tiny's lesson of the week

I went out yesterday to get bolts for a rear tow point (thanks Brian). Told the guy what I needed and endured the "you doin' this yourself, honey". He finally brought them from the back after a good ten minutes in a nifty little bag with numbers written on it and I was good to go.

Laying under my jeep after twenty minutes trying to remove the bolt on my bumper and it's all ready for my new to me hook. I get the bolt in there and to my amazement.... the nut slides right on without any twisiting. Just slides on easy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's not the way it works. Bolts need to be... well, snug for lack of a better word.

Will the wonders of this world ever cease to amaze? People are getting stupider. Him and me.

He stood back there, doing god knows what, and brought out the wrong thing and I didn't tear open the bag and make sure the nuts fit. Didn't think I had to, but Einstein taught me a valuable lesson. A name tag on the shirt doesn't equal expertise. They just work there.

My lesson for the week.

You're taking this very well. I applaud your ability to see this as a life lesson rather than a good excuse to go teach that guy not to underestimate women.

So, did ya go back and point out his stupidity?

Dare2BSquare 03-17-2007 02:47 PM

So the bolts and nuts were in the bag, sealed up together? Or was it seperate bags?

Scout 03-17-2007 02:48 PM

You should've taken a man with you...;)

:D

Dare2BSquare 03-17-2007 02:49 PM

You shouldn't have gone there, Scout!

tiny terror 03-17-2007 02:50 PM

I'm going back here in a little while when I take the boys out for dinner. I'll be nice though and not drag his lame butt across the counter and tell him to focus on his job and not my shirt.

Dare, they were in the same bag, he'd gotten them out of the bins in back. He just didn't check. I should have.

And Scout, what's really sad is you're probably right as much as I hate it.

What was wrong (or right) with your shirt!!

:D

I already know I can make him cry, so it's no fun. Scout's always telling me to take a man with me, but he's never volunteering.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.......

If that was the case when the sales guy said

"You doing this yourself,honey?"

You would have looked at Scout and replied
"He's talking to you."--------------:D

Scout 03-17-2007 03:06 PM

I knew there would be more posts in this thread when I returned... :D

Tiny,

Are you talking about bolts for the rear OEM tow hook?

I took mine off when I put my Hansen bumper on. If I remember right, one bolt was bigger than the other. The bigger one went into the frame and the smaller one went through the frame into the slide-in-the-inside of the frame thingy.

I'm going off of memory from a year ago and I gave it to someone, so don't beat me if I'm wrong or wear black leather, if you do. :D
