Skyjacker 4 in. lift install

Just finished last night installing my 4 in. skyjacker lift and I love it! Here are some before pics, during the install pics, then the final product. It looks funky with the 31's on there now, but gonna use the tread up on them before I go to 33's. When I bought the jeep a month ago it came with new tires, so might as well use them! Also, when purchasing the 33 inch tires I'm considering on swapping out the rims to some black ones, how does everyone think they would look? I don't feel the chrome 2 much...

Before...

During the Install... Forgot to take pics on the back while install, just wanted to finish it i guess, got too excited!

Nice. Got a quick question though, still new to jeeps here. Are there any major advantages or disadvantages to using a body lift, instead of a full suspension lift, if say, one wanted to do a minor 2-3" lift? I have 31s on there right now, 33s would be ideal for me.

Funky looking with the 31's but still awesome, go ahead an pick up some 35x12.50r15's :)

I would stay away from body lifts bigger than 2 inch's 2 inch is a little iffy. Coil Spring spacers might be something to look into, I just took off 2 in. coil spacers that were on mine if your interested in buying them

Thanks. Let me take a look and educate my self with it all, and I may be getting back with you. Appreciate the offer.

^^^Nice!

Looks good man, but is your rear wheels look like they were moved forward a couple inches like you shortened the wheelbase. When you lift a tj up that high it actually shortens the wheelbase and you need to center the axle back into place. (So I have heard at least). Other then that the jeep looks good.

the skyjacker lifts control arms are the same length as the stock control arms. so when using longer coils, it causes the axle to just rotate around and literally shorten the wheelbase. but not by too much. that is what is beneficial among other things with long arm susp.

My control arms were not the same length I would say a half an inch difference, which doesn't sound like a lot but it is when u are trying to get them to line up lol

Skyjacker Lift

I bought one already with one of these lifts in place. Do you notice the jeep get squirly driving down the road. Like the back end wants to come around on you. I've got 33" and a 4" lift.

Thanks

No I don't notice anything like that at all, hope it doesn't change when I put 33's on, i'm only running 31's right now.

Or just get adjustable upper and lower short arms like I have, much cheaper than any long arm kit.

nick50471 11-02-2010 08:23 AM

You might want to regear. 4.56 if you have a manual tranny, 4.10 if auto

97sport09 11-02-2010 09:35 PM

I did notice that on my lift; on acceleration the jeep would pull right and on deceleration it would pull left.
I blame it on my incorrectly adjusted adjustable track bar. i measured up front and was off 1.5" on either side. I have yet to drive the jeep since i the readjustment due to backordered wheels from quadracrap.
