Front bumper plans?

Anybody have any blue prints for a cool but functional front bumper. I cant see paying $300 for a shorty front bumper, or has the price of material gone up that much? I have a '94 YJ, are the front bumpers all the same bolt patterns as the TJ? Any info would be great! Rich (scootertrash19@msn.com)

I'm almost positive that the bumpers from a CJ, YJ, and TJ will all interchange and have the same pattern. I'm certain the rear are the same, but am not certain about the front.

YJ and TJ are the same I know... but am unsure for CJ's.

Why not buy a Warn nock off from RuggedRidge(~$150) and chop it down to likings?

LoD has a shorty(44") for $139. It's powdercoated, has light tabs, dual tow points, optional 2" reciever, ships for $26, and best of all...Made in the USA.

YJ, TJ and CJ has almost the same sizes so perhaps they have the same pattern for the jeep bumper, even that on the rear. Ask a dealer about it, they know it best...

Just out of curiousity, what's the benefit of going with a shorty over a standard size? Is it for looks or is there a purpose?

You won't get hung up on your bumper whne you are climbing over something. Your tire will be the first point of contact...or your fender. You can't climb up a rock if you can't get your tire to it.

I don't know how "cool" it is but mine is done out of a peice of angle iron, if you have access to a welder, a chop saw or torch and a little time you can make one for less than $20

I had a front bumper in mind for some time now and I thought I needed to build it the I found a company that sells exactly what I was wanting its just a little more money then what I was wanting to spend and I can pick the shorty bumper I want
