J10 11-09-2010 07:36 PM

I would like to know how far he got with that.
Also I have to give him props for the awesome feild repair, do what you need to to get home and all

adkjoe 11-09-2010 07:45 PM

Yea and he had what looks like a fresh spare on tire carrier

TjTheo 11-09-2010 07:49 PM

Its an undersized spare though, if you run different size tires on the same axle you'll destroy your differential because the tires are spinning at different speeds.

Not sure if that's correct but im like 90%

Barrie 11-09-2010 07:49 PM

I would say that is a 35 with a broken axle. Putting the spare on would do no good.

seems to come naturally to this driver

so what you put it in 4x4 and pray it's a short trip? Why couldn't he do the spare unless the wheel/hub broke? That's what's wrong wit my cj it sheared off at the hub

the axle shaft broke. if you look close, you can see the drum is tied up, holding it in the axle. if he put a tire on there, it would just fall off and do more damage.

Correct, the axle will slide out,or he snapped it at the hub.

When your axle brakes it can slide out whenever it feels like it so you would end up stopping to pick up you tire and whatevers left of the axle. Also not real good to have moving broken parts.
To be safe . . . er I would disconnect the rear drive shaft too

toshpate 11-09-2010 08:07 PM

I have no idea what all is wrong with my rear axle. Who knows. It will be awhile till that money tree I planted bares fruit

daggo66 11-09-2010 08:16 PM

Unless black biddy becomes a donor.

lets hope it bares money . not fruit. I once paid 450$ for a rare money tree from guatemala. and all it did was grow small bananas:mad:
