Night time wheeling....

About to go do some night time wheeling I'm bringing a couple lighters a hatchet a shovel a tow strap a knife and a flash light. This will be my first time going at night so maybe this will be the excuse for some daylighters on the windshield :punk:. What else would you guys bring. Besides beer I know everyone would like beer if they were stuck.

Probably some food.

Id consider taking someone with you, thats always the smartest thing. Also maybe some jackets and/or blankets for warmth...dunno what the weather is like where you live but it may be gettin cold in the nights.

I would suggest leaving the beer at home. Beer and wheeling don't mix well, especially at night.

Well I'm already back actually. I just found the trail this afternoon and didnt know how long it was. Apparently really short fifteen minutes one way fifteen minutes back. I did bring a buddy and did leave the beer at home. Was smooth sailing I'll get some pics of the jeep up as soon as possible. The only thing was towards the end it got really tight with brush on each side so I might have some buffing to do and have a couple battle scars.

I always bring a gun when wheeling at night. Too many predators hunt at night. Warm clothes is a good thing. A well stocked cooler, food and drinks. . . no booze. I carry a sleeping bag whenever I head back country. Flashlight, matches, CB radio, FRS walkie talkie, big knife, cell phone, fire starting packets, and some basic tools. Most of that carp all fits in a large plastic tote.

Glad you had fun. :)

I had second thoughts when I thought about it some more. 1. If i got stuck and had a beer then I'd be stuck another hour atleast to wait for it to wear off. 2. It'll be waiting for me when I get home anyways. 3. Juicy Juice is better on the trail :punk:

Even in the day and when I'm not wheelin I carry a .357 like you said to many predators. Unfortunately YJKID95 lives in the communist country of NY ( I used to live there so I can talk crap), so you better be careful with a gun wouldn't want the NYS troopers on your A$$ for no good reason cause that's what there good at. :)

I can have a twelve gauge shot gun in the car with me but it has to be unloaded with the saftey on. On another note would you guys say the KC daylighters long range lights on the windshield would be enough lighting? I'm suddenly finding a need for bright lights.

Just reminds me how stupid most laws are...*rant coming*

You make gun free zones like college campuses and only criminals will have guns in those places cause criminals don't follow laws.

You take places like Chicago and Illinois where it's illegal to carry a pistol and guess what only criminals will have guns while everyone else (law abiding citizens) are left helpless victims. Lifes not fair we all know that but at least level the playing field some. You wouldn't go to a baseball game if the Yankees used gloves and bats and the sox had to use sticks and mittens would you? well that might be entertaining but you get my point.

Sorry to steal the thread I've said many times before I feel very strongly on this subject so I will just leave it at that.

night time is the right time for wheeling. :)
nothing better than a trip through the woods in the dark. there's no large predators around me, so it's all good.

well, they have spotted cougars a few times, but the likelihood of a reclusive cat like the cougar attacking my jeep are what? but hey, if i got mauled, i was in the cat's territory and they were there first.

The KC daylighters work great, I also complimented them with some Hella floods, have them angled off to the side so everything is lit up when I need it to be.

Tarby 11-10-2010 08:18 PM

Get the 130 watt daylighters. I have em on my 95 yj on the windshield hinges. Totally happy with them. Wait a few more weeks, and night wheelin' in the snow comes to be the best time I have. I store my 95 yj for the winter (it has never been in the salt), but before the snow plows get out to clean the roads and turn them to $h!t, I get it out and head for the hills in fresh snow a couple of times in the dark. The KC's are amazing at night in the snow...

yjkid95 11-10-2010 09:04 PM

Daylighters it is then! Of course thats after I pick up my duratracs in a couple weeks.
