What has the world come to?!?

So when i went to purchase my new to me Jeep the other day i was looking through the JKs brochures. I flipped to the accessories section, When in the heck would you need wireless access in your Jeep or any car for that matter??! I mean can we not go that long without having internet access. Specially in a Jeep. Dont get me wrong i spend a lot of time surfing but not when im out of the house. Rant over i think, but maybe not...

i see your point, but i think it would come in handy for business purposes. my cell has internet access, and it has come in quite handy several times while out of the office. i know the sales reps i deal with are always looking for easier more convenient ways of doing business while on the road, their vehicle is a mobile office.

Storm Chasers have the internets in there cars..

PTaylor 11-15-2010 12:19 PM

Curious, would it be used for GPS?

XJ Knight 11-15-2010 12:24 PM

The amatuer storm chasers I know of.. Don't know any profestional meteorlogists yet.. use a GPS unit, various online road atlas programs, and regular maps when chasing.. None of the online programs that they use are live prograps like there GPS unit is..

I could see its purposes but the average consumer would be driving down the road checking their facebook or something along those lines.

i could see a purpose to it, but personally i think it to be a distraction if used while driving. to each his own.

Well, if you're going to have it, might as well be in a Jeep.:punk:

Of course, if you're behind me and you see me swerving all over the road....I'm NOT surfing porn. ;)

I use my Jeep to get away from everyday life. I leave the internet at home.

Not that I would ever feel the need to have an access point in my car, but... maybe for streaming music to your radio, especially if you use Pandora on your phone and no unlimited data plan...

Meh. If I had one I'd have a wireless security camera with a built-in streaming server so I could see if anyone's messing with my Jeep by logging into the camera from my phone.

It's actually quite the blessing when you have to take your 13 year old daughter somewhere... Jeep didn't come with it, but the android did :)

I use the wifi and 3G all the time on my phone. Having the ability to find and reserve the nearest redbox with the newly out movie is a handy feature. Using the local TV news app to find the cheapest gas is nice. Being able to post to WF about why my Jeep wouldn't start at the store and reading the helpful advice from forum members... PRICELESS!!
