alarm ideas

Anyone know of any cheap alarms that are available for YJ wranglers?

I am going to be going topless soon and I live in a crappy area of town.

cheap and alarms shouldn't be in the same sentence. Seriously you will get what u pay for in an alarm. I just dealt with a cheap alarm in a car at work today and now that that company went out of business I can't download the manual so I can reprogram his remote. If only he had gotten a better quality system first it wouldn't have crapped out and second if it did it would have a lifetime warranty. My experience and my recommendation, spend the extra couple of bucks and get a dependable system, have it installed by a pro at a place that won't go out of business next month.

i will tell u that they won't bother to open a door IF they see something they like they will take a knife and slit your top and reach in and take the item..there is a company that makes a sturdy locable trunk that mounts on the floor in back of the rear seat..also for theft protection nothing is as good as a hidden kill switch.

I found 2 way alarm on ebay.. do you bother turning around if you hear an alarm at the mall? Now imagine you get a ring in your remote saying your door has been opened.. thats what the 2 way alarm does it gives you real time stats of ur vehicle :) Mine is inwells or whatever its called.. it does the job so who cares what its name is. You open my door or hit the truck hard and it will let me know right away.. you can adjust sensitivity.. too bad i live by the airport so i gotta keep sensitivity down..

It is a simple toggle switch ..it would be installed somewhere between the key switch and the solenoid..it would be mounted/hidden say under the dash on the pass.side or in your console.so if someone tried to start the vehicle they would have to find that switch first..i put those on several of my vehs.back many years ago..some vehs.i also had an alarm on..like another poster stated go with a name brand good alarm..the soft tops are so vulnerable too theft...IF somebody knows u have something all they have to do is slit the canvas and reach in...might i suggest getting a military ammunition can like from a Army surplus store put a good lock hasp on it paint it a nice color and mount it between the rear seat and back window.this could be for putting your radio or other somewhat valuables in then lock it up with a good lock..any and all things are good to help deter thieves...try to always park in a well lit area ..but that kill switch is cheap and easy to do...good luck

About 35 years ago i lived in a real bad area..the thing back then was for thieves to dismantle the underdash wiring and take the radio gauges ect..so i hooked up several double edge razor blades under there just in case the thief bypassed my alarm system.also i had a hidden kill switch..:flipoff: lucky for someone they never tried to mess with me or any of my vehs..just remember to tell ANY new owner or worker of the booby traps.:D

you can even put manual kill switches on the fuel pump and clutch switch if you wanna go wild. :)

I would recomend motion sensor somewhere in there.

Yes, and most people still do even if they blow it off as a minor irritant, thay still look and that look can get a description of the theif. Theives know this and will generally bypass vehicles with indications of having an alarm.
