So I get home last night....

And the garage is open and my jeep is gone!! I usually take the keys with me because I have a teenager in the house but I stupidly went out leaving them on the counter. He's been pestering me to drive it, and I keep telling him no, I'm weird about my baby and he can drive one of the other cars in the driveway when he gets around to taking the test.

I call him and he doesn't answer the phone at first, but I know he's got the jeep and the phone with him. I keep calling until he picks up. By that time I'm frantic. And he's in a total panic when he answers. I figure ok, calm down, he's alive, now let's see if I have to kill him.

"Mom... your jeep.... I tried to miss the..."

I ask him if he's ok and he says yes but that the jeep is on it's side down the road, totally mangled. He's never driven it before and was going too fast around a curve and when the lion ran out in him after the zebra he swerved out of the way and rolled.... yeah, I said lion.... and zebra..... dang I almost had you guys. It is april first after all.

jeeptales 04-01-2007 10:52 AM

I can be on a plane tonight!

Would you like me to come out and see you so I can beat him I know how not to leave too many marks.

God help my daughter is she ever does that to me!

Scotty355 04-01-2007 11:50 AM

you had me up to the lion and zebra but I quess jeeptales thinks there are lions and zebras where you live :D

tiny terror 04-01-2007 12:13 PM

I don't think he read the last paragraph. But, it's ok, the jeep is salvagable. I'll be able to take the tub off and fit it with a nice hummer body so that the lions and tigers can ride in the back. It'll hang over a little here and there, but I think I can make it work.

Good stuff Tiny. Donnie and I were trying to figure out an April fools joke we could play on the forum last night, but we got bored and gave up. :D

I take it you've never been to southern California? ;)
There are lions native to California and they've imported zebras. :p

tiny terror 04-01-2007 02:48 PM

AzTJ 04-01-2007 02:55 PM

Hmm, there was an elephant that escaped from a cricus while I was living down there... Big Bird? come on, it's southern Cali fer godsakes, it's definately not uncommon to see people dressed in weird costumes... T-rex? maybe, La brea tar pits could have been putting on a display though...
Gotta try harder.
So, did the boy get hurt in the wreck? :D

you guys were supposed to be packing up my new lights last night! :D ;)

it would be awesome to win!

tiny, you had me at first

tiny terror 04-01-2007 07:36 PM

I think because I've been trying out working on my own rig that they should send the lights to me so I can try out some electrical stuff.

......... but there was an elephant, I swear, and it had little bitty wings and flew like a bumble bee only it didn't make a buzz buzz sound, it made a whump whump sound......

My wife and I left for a trip to New Orleans back when my youngest daughter was just about driving age. No permit, no license. We had some car trouble just after we went through Memphis, so we turned around and drove back 100 miles to get our other car. We get home and no car. No daughter. I suspected that she and a friend had taken it and gone to the movies... her older sister was supposed to be in charge. Couldn't find her either. We went to the theatre and there sat our car in the parking lot. We took it and went home.
Boy did she ever panic when they came out of the movie and the car was gone. Taught her a GOOD lesson. She was grounded until just about two weeks ago. That's been at least 12 years ago!

jjseel 04-02-2007 05:34 AM

Good job Dare! Tiny, My wife and I were listening to the fine music you shared, and reading posts... (btw, tigers aren't native to Africa) and were afraid for your Jeep and your son until you got to the lion...(Bad words) Good job, happy fools day

tiny terror 04-02-2007 11:52 AM

Yeah, but they're so cute in the video how can you not let them live in Africa*?

*there's fossil evidence that saber tooth tigers roamed Africa at one point..... :D Just thought I'd throw that out there in defense of my favorite video.

Odhinn 04-05-2007 12:27 AM

Tiny, you have succeeded in getting another song stuck in my head. Thank you sooooo much. But at least its not the Andy Griffith theme song. Had that one in my head for 3 days.:(

That is GREAT!!! I'll remember that one, just in case I ever have to use it. I think my dad would have just hauled me out by my ear, put me over his knee and wailed on my bottom right there in the parking lot.....that's why I never did anything like that! I was a good kid...until about 18....

Earworm, a loan translation of the German Ohrwurm, is a term for a song stuck in one's head, particularly an annoying one. Use of the English translation was popularised by James Kellaris, a professor of marketing at the University of Cincinnati. His studies appeared to demonstrate that different people have varying susceptibilities to earworms, but that almost everybody has been afflicted with one at some time or another.
