First Wrangler JK 2011
Hi all, new to the forum. Hope no one makes fun of me for my lack of jeep knowledge. I just bought my first wrangler 3 weeks ago. It is my first new bought vehicle and I am very happy too own it. I am moving up from a mercedes bens that I bought from my mom. Ya Ya I know. I am a 23 year old avid surfer and happy pet owner who loves adventures, that's what led me to the Wrangler. Don't want to bore anyone so I will leave it at that. I have been reading over the forum for the last couple of weeks and I am hoping you all can give me suggestions on modifications I need to make on my 2011 JK. I am looking for any books or magazines that can give me information on the vehicle and its maintenance. Basically this is the first vehicle I have bought with my hard earned money and I want to make it last as long as possible. Please give me any suggestions you have on upgrades or modifications. I have been looking into getting new tires and a lift kit but I am really tired of dealing with the dealer. Any one in Delaware? Would love to make a friend to teach a thing or two to me about working on Wranglers...Any suggestions on installing really anything would be great. Sorry for being so lame just trying to learn all I can about my new jeep. Forum seems great and that"s why I joined. Jeep is 4 dr unlimited...Natural green, dual top automatic. Just bought side steps and mud flaps...would post pics but am sure you know what it looks like.

First, congrats on your excellent vehicle choice and welcome to the forum!

Second, post pics. It's true that everyone knows what Wranglers look like, but the forum is full of folks who dedicate time on a daily basis to reading/talking about them. I take that as an indication that they don't get tired of looking at them.

Third, go to Quadratec's website and have them send you a catalog. It's great to flip through and will show you all kinds of things you never knew you have always desperately needed.

Fourth, spend a few weeks (at least) driving and reading before deciding on significant mods like lifts etc. You need to be aware of the consequences of some of these changes. For example, did you know that a lift often requires you to change your driveshafts? No? Then keep reading. ;)

Hey all of us at One time knew nothing about jeeps. Any question is a valid one. Welcome and go out and have fun then you'll see what you need. Roof rack for surf boards?

There is a Jeep club based out of OC that has it's own private land to wheel on. You are also about 30 minutes from Assateague Island. I love going there.

Hey thanks guys. I have ordered a quadratec catalog and I am passionately waiting for it. Only frustrating thing Is I don't feel capable to install anything:(. Great thing about the 4 dr unlimited is any surfboard I ride can fit inside. No more worries of watching my boards blow away or seeing the aftermath of the rack system. Really loving my jeep, thanks for not hating me,so far.

Thanks Daggo
Ya I know all about Assateague and can't wait to get out on the beach there. Great opportunity there to find my own waves to surf. Have any idea how to get into contact with OC jeep club? Thanks for getting back to me. If you are in the area or have suggestions for modifying the jeep please let me know. I am really hoping to find someone to teach me about working on my wrangler...

I will probably be heading to Assateague again in 2 weeks. Might be a littel cold for surfing, but I plan of sitting by a nice warm fire and enjoying the view for a few hours. You're more than welcome to join us.

I like smileys...can you tell...sometimes I use them to enhance wordage!

Three years of jeep ownership here and the smile seems to be permanently engraved on my face, get used to that. :D

Now, get out there and get it dirty. :firedevil:

Yes I have downloaded the owners manual. Need to spend some time reading over it though. Was just hoping to find a good book or magazine to learn from. Guess I will start with the manual. THanks

Welcome to the forum.
I went to the U of D ---- go Blue Hens!

Read the forum for a month or so, old posts, our builds, problems, likes, & dislikes. You'll get a feel for what we think is working on the JKs as far as modifications.
You'll also know a little more about how you relate to your Jeep after a month. You'll like some things and want to change others.
Don't be intimidated; Jeeps are easy to wrench on.
