Davis Mountains

We just got back and while there we decided to hunt with a camera. It's a great place to see and relax, unfortunately all the land is private so unless a person knows a Rancher or networks with a club in the area there is no wheeling (maybe next time). Here are a few photos we took while there.

I was caught at a rest area playing on a small rock, a very small rock, what can I say. After 500 miles on the highway I was bored of pavement.:)

Course you can't wheel there, you might have hit that piggy thingy, whatever that is. Looks like a great place.

The whole county is a population of about 2000. It was nice to get out of the city. I highly recommend it.

You eat hamsters, too, don't you.

My ancestors didn't fight and claw their way to the top of the food chain for me to eat rabbit food. But a salad is nice every once in a while.:) Actually thats a baby, I wouldn't eat it.

Here are a few more the meat-eater forgot to post:

And they're all fluff and not much meat. Barely enough for a sandwich.

Do whitetails in Texas not shed their antlers? You just took these pictures, right? Those bad boys should be bald about now around these parts. Just beginnin to start growin for next year.

Odhinn 04-03-2007 10:45 PM

The pics were taken a few days ago and I'm pretty sure they shed right after the breeding season which should be now. I can't say why they are still intact. Maybe the locals used superglue:). I was actually a bit shocked to see antlers when we came up on them.

You'd have to eat too many of them to fill yourself up. Otherwise I might try it. :D

Wheeling out there

My Brother in law is a With ICE/Border Patrol and works in all parts of West Texas from Pacos to Sanderson.

He know a lot of folks in the area.

If you ever want to wheel in the area you need to let me know a few weeks ahead of time.

I hunt and wheel in the area all the time during Hunting Season after all the Jeep Jamborees are done.

We went through your area, I think thats about the spot I slung a 2 ounce weight off my passenger side front tire. BTW scout on the way there we saw some nice trails near you, along the freeway from midland to DFW.

BTW thanks all for the comments and jeeptales, Before we plan on heading that way again I might just contact you.:D You will be glad to know we detoured on the way back to see the Alamo and your city is very cool. Went to the riverwalk also.:) Very nice city you have down there.
