Buying a 1988 YJ

Hi Jeep Brain!
I'm thinking about buying a 1988, 4.2, auto YJ. 125,000 miles
It comes with a smaller plow on it. I am buying it to plow my drive and my in-laws. First off, I know nothing about jeeps, but can fix or diagnose most problems on vehicles.
Here are my questions:
Besides suspension (ball joints, tie rods, etc) what Wrangler specific items do I need to watch out for.
Or what can cause me big money down the road.
The jeep looks to be stock (with the exception of the plow) no lift or anything.
My other vehicle is a suburban so I thought that I could also drive this day-to-day (with the plow removed). I'm 65 miles/day freeway driving.
So in a nutshell, what can I expect buying a 20 yr old Jeep.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum :)

Depending on your location....rust is a main concern

If it doesn't run real well, I suggest swapping in an HEI distributor and deleting all the stock jeep crap as it will cause you problems down the road.

Other than that, its just like anything else....run it :)

I'm assuming this is a carbed engine?
Any cold issues with it (or if it is tuned it is ok)?

Yes it should be if nothing has been touched....EFI didn't come into the 6 cylinder world until 1991. Just like any other carb you will wanna make sure the fast idle solenoid is working...if it is, there shouldn't be a problem in the cold.
