Need some advice

Just purchased my first TJ. Came with a 4" suspension lift ( Not installed). I dont know what brand the lift is. The question is should I install this lift? I am going to be useing the jeep as a DD. Its about 60miles round trip 3 times a week. I do off road quite a bit but Im used to the libby so I stay away from anything to radical:) Plus I would like to stay with 31" tires do to regearing issues and tire price's. Would I be better off selling this lift for a 2 1/2" suspension lift or not? whats the 4" worth

Sorry for being long winded. all advice is appreciated.

It's all about what your gonna do. 4" is pretty serious and will more than likely require other mods,$$. As far as selling it, you gotta find out what it is. I'm sorry whats "libby"

Liberty?. Like he said more money will be spent to lift it 4 inches

4" lift is just about right for 33" tires. If you want to stick to 31's I would sell the kit and pick up a 2 to 2.5 inch lift like you mentioned. Like was mentioned before 4" starts down the road of many other mods and $$$'s. Post a picture of the kit and I am sure we can help you figure out what you got and what it's worth.

Post up some pics of the lift, someone should be able to identify it.

I, me, myself, would sell the 4" lift, a 2 or 2.5" lift is (to me, again) plenty, you can do other mods to fit bigger tire if you want to later down the road. you will find out that a 2 or 2.5" lift and 31's will get you to many many places you didn't even think it would be possible.

If your only going to use 31" tires I would not put a 4" lift on that. It will just look funny.

I have a 4" Procomp Lift and running equivalent to 33's. Mine is a daily driver. The only thing I would caution you on is this. Once you get the "BUG" you will wish you had the 4" lift. I would suggest if you THINK you may be doing some wheeling then dont waste your time on the 2" go ahead with the 4" so you dont double your work. If you have a TJ then you should only need a CV shaft. An LJ you need nothing. The only issue with the 4" is the pinion angle. Once you concur that you are on your way. Have Fun!!!!

I would agree with all of that but when you look at that much of lift you are usually talking 33's. Now you have to start thinking about gears and axles, tire carrier for that size spare. All depends on how far one wants to go. :banghead:

and be realistic with the type of wheeling you're gonna do. again you can do a lot with a "small" lift and 31's.
I've seen a lots of real nice looking Jeep with 4" lift , 35"s on them and lots of add on, real, real nice, (I whish I could spend that kind of money) they really look good but is it really needed for what it's gonna be used for ? more power to the one that can do that and yes im a bit jealous, but it would be more because I would want it than need it to be able to follow my friends while playing in rocks
