New Wheel and Tire Help
 
I getting a 2" lift, Pro Comp Wheels and Duratrac Tires on my 07 Wrangler X

How big can I go with the tires with that lift? I want 33"+ and I would prefer to go 315/70/R16. Will this work without rubbing?

The Pro Comps are 16 x 8 and I think the tires are made for 8-10" wide rims. If im on the low side of that at 8" will there be any dissadvantages? Are there advantages to going wider with the rims?

Steel or Aluminum Wheels? Is there are big difference in weight, performance and gas milage?

Correct me if I am wrong but I think you are looking at the 305/70R16 DuraTrac? Assuming this is what you are looking at you can run this size on your Jk with a 2" lift. I'd recommend a wheel that has a backspace between 3.75 and 4.75. 4.5" would be ideal. If the procomp you are looking at is Steel you may need to run a spacer to get them to clear your brakes and in that case you'd be better off buying a lighter aluminum wheel that will fit properly. All said and done the cost shouldn't be that much more.

If we can help you more please let us know. With a 2.5" of lift some people run 35" tires on their JK.

Close, 305/75R16 Duratracs. I might go with the 285's now though.

The Pro Comp Wheels are 16X8 steel, im a little worried about the added weight because I have no engine mods yet. Im pretty sure I wont need to mess with the breaks with that set-up though. Backspace is 4.5, ideal. I just want to make sure there is no rubbing and no fender problems that will go with this set-up when on rough terrian (CA and AZ rock climbing and desert runs).

Big concern too is low pressure desert dune 4 wheeling. With 8" wheels I feel like the tire felx at low pressure will be a problem, I might be wrong...

Either way, thanks for the help! Im really excited to put the first mods on my X and put some pressure on the Jeep.

The DuraTrac doesn't come in a 305/75R16. If your procomp steel wheels are 16x8 with 4.5" BS running a spacer will add more weight and lower the BS as well. I'd recommend running the MB72 in a 16x8.5 and the duratrac in a 305/70R16. This combo would be perfect for a leveled Jk that will see the trails. Just bolt up and go.
