2011 Replacement key

I am looking to make a 3rd key for my 2011 jeep rubicon. I believe this will work as long as I use my original two keys to program it and get it cut by a locksmith. Wil this key work:

All Things Jeep - Jeep Rock Key - Transponder Compatible - TAN

Anybody else use one of these keys for there 2011 jeep?

I checked with ikeyless and they said the 2010 key is not compatible with the 2011. I would call and ask them before you order since it says "Compatible with the following Jeeps: Jeep Wranglers 2006-2008".

ikeyless told me a few months before they get one compatible.

Did this the other day

I went to a local locksmith the other day. he had the right key for $37 dollars. Went home and programmed it within a couple of minutes. The directions are in the owner's manual. I also had a key without the resistor made at Lowe's for a buck, just to unlock the doors if needed.

I called them and they said it will work. All I have to do is program it and get it cut by a locksmith.

There are lots of aftermarket places to purchase transponder chip keys for your 2011 Wrangler. Many are under $25 or $30. All you have to do is take the key to a local hardware store and have it cut to match your key.

Self-programing directions are in your owner's manual.

Just Google:

Wow that is a hell of a lot better than paying $180 for a duplicate key at the dealership. :whistling:

I got some spares from iKey for my 2008. They work fine on that model.

The whole transponder key business does raise a certain level of anxiety regarding various potential 'what if' scenarios though.

I had imagined having the Factory alarm/etc would help instill a greater sense of security.

What it does for me is expose greater levels of dependence on faith electronic gremlins will ignore my JK. So far so good.....but yesterday just sitting in it cleaning the dash, I got a brief but distinct previously never heard, electronic sound from somewhere behind the driver. A little 'bleat' not associated with pushing any buttons or controls.

And another odd happening, is the recurring change in the dome light stalk control position. I'm sure I do NOT change it or brush against it, yet at times, it's ON.

Hello
I just bought a 2011 Wrangler sport and since it was the entry level model only came with one key. Does this mean that I inevitably have to go to the dealer in order to get a second key?

Call your dealer right away. All new Wranglers come with two keys.

Somebody forgot to give you the second key.

:wavey: I have a key made for my 2010 that will only open the doors, but not start the vehicle. The doors will alarm when opened though.

That's just wrong. They OWE you a second key. If by entry level, you mean no S package... (power windows etc....) that's what I got. (I've had my battery die, windows down, and it starts snowing - and on the verso, been in the desert, windows up. Always camping, sometimes alone (no other vehicle around)). Will try never to have auto windows again.

But that rambled on, they gave me 2 keys. As Mabar said *All new Wranglers come with 2 keys*. Or at least they are supposed to......

Easy-to-follow directions are in your owner's manual.
