Stock rear bumper

The only mods done by the PO were a Smittybilt rear tube bumper/hitch and the Congo Cage. My TJ looks a little...unbalanced. Rather than get a tube front bumper and keep what I have (the Jeep won't be towing the 4000# camper), I'd rather go stock (or something similiar) and sell the Smittybilt, then upgrade later. Question is, does the stock bumper bolt right up? or are there brackets I will also need in between bumper and chassis? All the pics I find don't show the backside of the bumper.

Thanks all

I don't think a TJ can safely tow a 4,000# trailer.

Probably due to the fact a TJ weighs the same amount.

There are no brackets needed. They bolt right to the frame. Where are you? I'll sell you mine! They're out in the garage as we speak.

As for towing 4000lbs, I think all of you nay sayers are misreading the OP's post!

The owners manual list max towing capacity is 2,000#. If he tows a 4,000# trailer I would stay in front of him so when he loses it it is behind me.

I'm in San Antonio, not sure how shipping a bumper would be here.

And for the record, I DO NOT plan on towing anything with the Jeep...

Shipping would be too costly. Check craigslist, there's always stock TJ bumpers for sale.

I live in North of you in temple and might be willing to trade bumpers with you if u want...mine is stock and was looking at getting something with a hitch

There sure are alot of Wranglers in Texas! I've replaced both my bumpers and they are sitting in the garage. I'd be willing to sell.
