BF Goodrich mud Terrain or BF goodrich all terrain?

which is better for a daily driver and a weekend mudder? I know the mud terrains are better for offroad but is their street life not as long as the all terrains? Are they as safe as the all terrains? Sorry if there is another thread i couldn't find it. Or is Mickey Thompson baja's just the way to go? Haha

ESP 12-17-2010 08:21 PM

For a daily driver I would go for the BFG AT as the tread depth is a little less for less rolling resistance and they are a bit lighter overall as well. A lot of people seem to be getting rid of their MTs in favor of the outstanding ATs available.

I like the way the BFG's look too. :)

I have the all terrains and they seem to have good tread life. If your just muddin on the weekends then go with the all terrains. They may not be as good as the mud terrains for muddin but they should last longer and give you a little better gas mileage. dont want to have to replace them sooner than you have to, dont come cheep

I have KM2's on my DD Jeep. They are running good so far.

Search And Destroy 12-17-2010 08:25 PM

yeah, I also might be getting another car to use as a daily driver and have my jeep as a toy! so what are the best tires in that case where gas, loudness, street life don't matter?

RSC17 12-17-2010 08:28 PM

swampers

Search And Destroy 12-17-2010 08:29 PM

what kind of swampers?

RSC17 12-17-2010 08:32 PM

i have no first hand experience with them, but the TSL's look pretty popular.

My KM2's do the job for me.

Mike_3303 12-17-2010 08:33 PM

Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ or Baja Claw, the claw just looks cool

abadoobi 12-17-2010 08:54 PM

i have km2's on my dd but weekend warrior and i love them. ya they are a little loud on the road and if u drive in pure ice they are worthless in 2wd but i think they do great. i had the all terrains before and hated them. i didnt want to waste the little time i have to play getting pulled out because my tires suck. i sold them and bought the km2's ad havent regretted it one bit.

jeepinmichguy 12-18-2010 11:06 AM

BFG A/T's are a glorified street tire. Any one who thinks they are any good off road is on crack. Go with the KM2's.

i would get the all terain tires. my dad has them and he loves them and they look mean.

NAVYCHIEF 12-18-2010 11:28 AM

we used bfg at's on our tour jeeps in sedona. we had no problems in snow, mud nor extreme rock crawling. open road to and from off roading can be noisey on some kinds of surfaces. over all a pretty good tire for jeeps. i had them on my toyota tacoma 4x4 and they sucked.

I like the BFG A/T on my Silverado but have the KM2 on my TJ.

JEEPIN_DOG 12-18-2010 05:43 PM

I had 30x9.5 BFG AT's on a stock TJ and did fine in all but really deep mud. I now have 33x10.5 BFG AT's and 3.25 suspension lift. Hope to be trying them out tomorrow. We'll see how they do.

I have no experience with BFG's A/T tires but the last pair of Goodyear Duratracs were amazing off road.

jp2611 12-18-2010 06:03 PM

I am now on my third set of BFG AT's. I put the first set on at 25k miles. Jeep now has over 130k on it and just put 3rd set on in the past month. Great on road for me. My "off road" is to get kayak into the water-sometimes it is a regular boat launch sometimes is mud and low river BED!!!. Never been stuck that I couldn't drive out of-YET!!!!!!

06TJLOVER 12-18-2010 06:08 PM

KM2's are kick ass! Have them on my DD and love them. No road noise and ride great.

If you said decent off road I may agree but amazing....:blunt:

jeepjones 12-18-2010 07:01 PM

GO with the MT"S, screw the AT's they suck in everything but the asphalt.

JDGROVER 12-18-2010 07:05 PM

Gotta love how there are just as many tire choices as opinions. ;)

flynn78us 12-18-2010 08:32 PM

Your gonna get alot of opinions. I had both and a/t's now on my Sahara. It just depends on what your Jeep see's more of. My Sahara sees more road then my XJso my XJ got the Swampers and My Sahara got the A/ts. However I am going to put M/t's on the XJ next

computeruser 12-18-2010 08:59 PM

M/T. Ran both, prefer the M/T for all but winter use. Run dedicated winter/snow tires, so M/T spring-summer-fall works great for me.

Ctriess 12-19-2010 03:12 AM

I would look at the pro comp all terrain. I have them on my jeep and they ride pretty quite and handle well with anything you want to do.

Its not an opinion its fact, even someone who has never ran an all terrain tire should be able to tell by looking at them they are quite lacking compaired to any MT.

flynn78us 12-19-2010 01:25 PM

If you want a mud tire, but not if you want an "All Terrain"

Fweaky 12-19-2010 01:33 PM
