Shifter Knob Removal

Stupid question... I have seen multiple posts for how to remove a shifter knob for many different jeeps, I have not been able to find one for my 2008 Unlimited. The problem I have run into is once removed (Probably not the correct way) there are no threads. I have my KaBar shifter knob ready to go but it requires threads. Am I missing something here? I feel like a total moron. Something this simple. :banghead:

Read this post.. I have a 2008 and I showed some pics in the thread as to how I went about removing these knobs.. DON'T use a hammer ..
The shift levers of your 2008 have NO threads..

Thank you for such a quick response. The link clarifies all of my concerns. I guess I will have to return the KaBar grip. It was a present for christmas and I dont think the Company that sells it has any idea that certain models are with out threads. Damn Shame. Now, due to the arm being threadless does that mean I will have to customize any shift knob that goes on there or does someone actually produce specific knobs for my 08'? Thanks for your help!!!

Try looking at quadratec.com I don't think they have ant kabar shifters but they have quite a few shifter handles and are very good at knowing what fits on what jeep

I installed the knobs from LiteGrip
