NJ Blizzard...Loving the JEEP!!!!
So after about 7 months, i am FINALLY able to test out my 93 yj 4.0 auto in the snow. And i F'n LOVE IT!!!! Thing is unstoppable.

I know there is some kind of "limit" to how fast one can go, but just to be safe (1st time owning a jeep) in 4 high how fast can one go? I already know the limit for 4 low. Just making sure. Do not want to damage anything. Cause i am having a blast, passing other SUVs that are stuck.:flipoff:

With the short wheelbase, you'll be spinning 360's on the Interstate before you reach the limit of how fast you can go in 4-high. Those big concrete barriers make the unstoppable stoppable. :D Seriously, you can get a lot of confidence in just how well these things can go, but the shorter wheelbase and weight distribution can cause some unexpected things to pop up. I've seen one spin for no apparent reason going down the road.

If you're looking for hard numbers, you shouldn't switch into 4-H from 2-H going over 55 MPH. 4-H is recommended for "as fast as conditions allow".

I usually just switch when i am at a stop. But i am also not driving like a Just saying. 30-40 is about all i can do really. Just making sure is all. Because i used to drive my pops 4 runner during the snow season when things got bad, and that thing was a beast as well. So i just wanna make sure.

But i deff love taken the turns and getting the rear end sideways.

In the 30-40 MPH range, you're doing fine. Really you can theoretically go as fast as you want, though my own personal "this can't be good for it" flasher in my head comes on around the 55 MPH range.

It is great fun though! I've been out playing in safe areas in my YJ's and old XJ and had a ball. I get *REALLY* interesting with a welded rear end, lol.

If you can "safely" travel over 40mph, you don't need 4x4.... Other wise you are just begging for trouble....

It's not about how fast you can GO. It's about how fast you can STOP!!
Those other SUV's that are stuck, They didn't think about that.

My main question was for say if im on a dirt road no snow, and i can do 40 and above. Question has nothing really to do with the snow. I was just expressing my joy in the snow.
