Yes you can paint it, or you could buy some center caps to cover it..... Center caps would be much easier... :)

for $10 a wheel! craziness!

Time vs. cost....... It's gonna take some work and a fair amount of time to get rid of the rust on there, before you can paint them. Cost of paint and primer will run you about what two center caps cost.... plus the time and materials involved in rust removal. But it's your time, and your money..... you do what you want with them... :)

very true. my only issue is the color. i want them black, the caps only come in one color

rust removal? haha
Just paint them!
buy the cheap spray paint from walmart, unbolt the wheel/tire and set aside, scuff up the hub a little if you want (i just use a wire brush), and then spray the paint. do a couple coats just so it holds up. when it chips, remove tire and repeat.

i only bother painting just what shows through.

you can get black center caps....and even black lug nuts.

there is not a whole lot of time savings in going with caps. you still have the pull the wheel/tire off to get them on.
i'm just thinking ONE can of $3 spray paint beats 4 x $20 center caps.

Well, which ever floats your boat.... :) Pull the tires every few months to repaint the hubs..... or ...................

Pull them once to put on center caps....... :) Makes no difference to me either way, I'm just here for the beer..... :D

The caps are only $8 bucks a pop, you would be looking at about $32. However, if you're going to paint the hubs, then make sure to use hi-temp paint or caliper paint and brush it on. Scuff up the surface really nice and brush it. I would want overspray to get into anything else back there.

The ONLY other thing about not having center caps is that it's much easier for sand and moisture to get back there, causing much more wear and tear on your braking system.
