I pulled my 1994 yj into the driveway yesterday and now it will not start. The key turns but it does nothing! Doesn't turn over. The headlights work fine. I took the battery cables off and cleaned the terminals to no avail. I tapped the starter lightly with a mallet to no avail. Any thoughts would be apprecciated. Son said a few days ago when he was driving it that the radio and istrument panel "blinked" but came right back on and then was fine? It is a manual transmission.

Sound like maybe your starter died.

ok the starter is fine. I by pass started and it cranked. It seems that it is an electrical problem up under the dash or around the steering column. It did it again and I started to look at the wires underneath the dash and all of a sudden the buzzer and idiot lights started working and it started right up. so I zip tied the wiring up so it wont get bumped. bang wont start. undid the zip tie and jiggled wires it was fine. Where do I start looking at the wires? Obviously something is loose to the ignition switch? or something else that is tied to the buzzer, idiot lights and ignition switch. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
