rough country basic 4" lift

i am thinking of purchasing a rough country basic 4" lift for my 99 sahara and just wanted to get some feedback from everyone. is there anyone currently running this setup that has opinions (either way)? i currently have a 2 1/3" spacer lift and it rides terrible. thanks in advance... the price i am getting is $549.00 to the door, anywhere cheaper?

this ( Rustys Offroad: TJ 3" Basic Kit ) +upgrade to get 4' of lift will be a much better ride, better shocks, better coils, better everything and better driveline angles b/c only 3" of susp. lift

RC is known to have a rough ride, even in their name, all heresay, but I've heard it is very stiff and not built the best

rusty's will be OME, very nice people great quality and all around better, it is worth the extra $80!!

I have the rough country 4". I have had no problems with it at all. I think its a good value for your $'s. I really couldn't tell you about any other brand but, I'm very happy with mine. Really wish I would have spent the extra couple houndred dollars to get the 4" X-series. The basic 4" kit is taller than 4 inches so this is a little more prone to drive line vibes. I had to install a SYE and new drive shaft. Over all I think its a good kit and I would go with a Rough Country again except I would get the X-series kit that comes with almost everything you WILL need. The ride is a little stiff but it's a Jeep not a passenger car.

I have the 4" basic kit. It rides just fine even with the RC shocks. I rode in other lifted jeeps and could not tell you the difference. Even so down the road you could buy different shocks. I never had drive line vibes. Did have the "death wobble" but the front track bar was not tight enough. For the price, you get alot of bang for your buck. I'm not going to say I love this kit because I've not owned any other brand. I am however very happy with it & don't feel ripped off. You will have to put with the ridicule of those who spent much more on their lifts than you.
I would buy this kit again, but if I had more money i would buy the RE long arm.

I run the regular 4inch rough country lift. It feels awesome on road on offroad. Very easy to install and the transfer case was enough to stop vibes. I got it shipped to my door for 530 on ebay. It flexes real nice. Here some pics of the lift in action

I am extremely pleased with the rough country kit. I ride the jeep hard every weekend and it has never let me down. Only wish it came with upper control arms though, just becuase i dont like the tin stock ones. Came with everything necessary to do the lift. It definetly the best for the price by far in my opinion. Hope u find what ur looking for

Sorry for hijacking but whats the sentence here. Does rustys 3" basic in fact ride smoother/softer than rough country 4" basic? Which one is worth the $$$ since they seem about the same price..

i drove a tj with the RC 4" lift., it was really stiff.
i would go with the OME 3.5". it´s much more comfortable.

Triple88a 05-19-2007 08:34 AM

OME is out of my price range, I'm about to get a 2" Body lift from ebay and am looking at 5" maybe 6" if i go with 4" suspension lift.
