Wife in labor w our firsr child!

So here we are at the hospital waiting for our first baby, a boy! This summer I bought an 07 Rubicon, 2 door. My coworkers have a bet going that I will get rid of my Jeep due to having kids. They said my life is over and I'll soon swap my JK for a minivan!

I am 100 percent certain I will keep this JK! Worst case scenario I'll upgrade to a 4 door JKU! Even then, fat chance! I love my 2 door and can't wait for this kiddo to be old enough to ride w me!

Anyhow, the wife can always trade her car for a minivan! =)

first post here, just registered opened up the first thread to find a new dad waiting.

thought i'd share this,

A mother held her new baby and very slowly rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while she held him, she sang:
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
my baby you'll be.
The baby grew. He grew and he grew and he grew. He grew until he was two years old, and he ran all around the house. He pulled all the books off the shelves. He pulled all the food out of the refrigerator and he took his mother's watch and flushed it down the toilet. Sometimes his mother would say, "this kid is driving me CRAZY!"
But at night time, when that two-year-old was quiet, she opened the door to his room, crawled across the floor, looked up over the side of his bed; and if he was really asleep she picked him up and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. While she rocked him she sang:
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
my baby you'll be.
The little boy grew. He grew and he grew and he grew. He grew until he was nine years old. And he never wanted to come in for dinner, he never wanted to take a bath, and when grandma visited he always said bad words. Sometimes his mother wanted to sell him to the zoo!
But at night time, when he was asleep, the mother quietly opened the door to his room, crawled across the floor and looked up over the side of the bed. If he was really asleep, she picked up that nine-year-old boy and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while she rocked him she sang:
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
my baby you'll be.
The boy grew. He grew and he grew and he grew. He grew until he was a teenager. He had strange friends and he wore strange clothes and he listened to strange music. Sometimes the mother felt like she was in a zoo!
But at night time, when that teenager was asleep, the mother opened the door to his room, crawled across the floor and looked up over the side of the bed. If he was really asleep she picked up that great big boy and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. While she rocked him she sang:
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
my baby you'll be.
That teenager grew. He grew and he grew and he grew. He grew until he was a grown-up man. He left home and got a house across town. But sometimes on dark nights the mother got into her car and drove across town. If all the lights in her son's house were out, she opened his bedroom window, crawled across the floor, and looked up over the side of his bed. If that great big man was really asleep she picked him up and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while she rocked him she sang:
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
my baby you'll be.
Well, that mother, she got older. She got older and older and older. One day she called up her son and said, "You'd better come see me because I'm very old and sick." So her son came to see her. When he came in the door she tried to sing the song. She sang:
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always...
But she couldn't finish because she was too old and sick. The son went to his mother. He picked her up and rocked her back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And he sang this song:
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
my Mommy you'll be.
When the son came home that night, he stood for a long time at the top of the stairs. Then he went into the room where his very new baby daughter was sleeping. He picked her up in his arms and very slowly rocked her back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while he rocked her he sang:
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
my baby you'll be.

Cool first post! Welcome to the forum!

distortedtj 01-06-2011 08:00 AM

Congrats Wolf. Kids are a blast too! And don't worry...Kids and jeeps are a great family activity too. Mine love to go wheeling...it's great to hear them say "bump" and bust out laughing. My boy rode home from the hospital in the jeep...sitting right next to his big sister. :)

DEERE G 01-06-2011 08:13 AM

Congrats man!!! There no feeling in the world like having kids.
5 yr. old and 18 mth. old here. They both went to JeepSkool last August.

OregonTJ 01-06-2011 08:15 AM

congratulations.......

BladeMechanical 01-06-2011 08:17 AM

Congratulations on your new family member. Make sure you teach him the ways of the Jeep.

JDsDream 01-06-2011 08:38 AM

What an awesome day for you. Congrats on the new Jeeper. They grow up fast so keep your eyes open (he'll take care of that for the first couple of months) because you don't want to miss a thing.

colaim 01-06-2011 08:42 AM

Congrats, man! Kids are awesome, and my 2 little ones love ridin' in the Jeep.

jgano23 01-06-2011 09:03 AM

congrats :)

greenwitch 01-06-2011 09:12 AM

Congratulations. One of our nurses told my husband something I've never forgotten:

Recovery is for flowers and fine jewelry.

I got neither (didn't want either) but always found it amusing.

They grow so fast! My 2 are out of the house, the 'baby' is now 6'3" and a lady killer! Enjoy and remember to look at things with a child's eye! They see so much we who are grown and jaded do not! Keep the Jeep, the wife can have the family car, even if her's ends up being a 4 dr JK.

bc3_Jeep 01-06-2011 09:49 AM

My two "kids" spent many a vacation riding in the back of our Jeep. They are 30 and 25 now and STILL talk about some of those trips. It took us so many places they will never forget. Minivans are for the "unimaginative".....

Dempsey 01-06-2011 09:59 AM

Congrats! We just had our 1st child 9 months ago today....lil girl. Prepare for a few weeks of little to no sleep but it gets better every day. Ellie started crawling last week and I can tell you now it is awesome.

Ignore what everyone else says about the whole toy/car thing. My wife traded her turbo vw for a ford escape but that was mainly because you can't get a car seat in the VW or she would probably still have it!! My wife wouldn't let me sell my Jeep even when I have thought about. :)

Congrats Again!

jcf 01-06-2011 10:09 AM

baja 01-06-2011 11:12 AM

530ktm 01-06-2011 01:15 PM

Congrats. It is a special moment in your life and as all the others have mentioned, it moves by very quickly. Enjoy your child every moment you can.

Wolffdood 01-07-2011 12:00 PM

Thank you all for the stories, encouragement, and wishes!

Baby Colin was born on 1/6/11 at 5 am weighing 7.93 lbs! This little guy is very active and I can already tell he's ready for the Jeep!

Sorry for the late update... As most of you all know, when the baby sleeps, we sleep! Haha he's up most of the night and wakes up every 2 hours during the day.

We're still at the hospital and get discharged on Saturday at 11 am!

Once again, thank you all! =)

530ktm 01-07-2011 12:02 PM

:wavey: Nice big, healthy boy you have there. Congrats. :)

Barrie 01-07-2011 12:05 PM
