JK Cleaning

As a new owner of a JK Wrangler Sahara 4 dr soft top, I am wondering if it will be ok in a car wash? How do the members here clean the undercarraige? For those of you do it yourselfers do you use any special tools and do I need to pay special attention to any particular areas when doing it in my driveway? Do you recommend any special soaps for cleaning the soft tops and plastic (?) windows. Also I have a dog (100 LB Choc Lab) and I dont know where to store the windows when top downin away from home. I was told not to fold them but to roll them or lay them flat but with the dog in the back it doesnt leave a lotta room. The JK came with 4 straps (2 velcro and 2 loop type with snaps). I use the velcro for the brackets(braces) when the top is down but darned if i can figure out what the other two are for.

As Far as the windows go check out JC Whitney Quadratec.com 4wd.com or just about any other site that carries JK products or replacement tops and windows and you can buy a window duffel that has sleeves in it where you can put your windows and roll them up safely. As far as washing goes I just take my Jk to the local carwash and use the preasure washer there just pay special care around the back window (may leak slightly at edge by tailgate) and I believe Bestop makes top cleaner conditioner and window cleaner I bought some from JC whitney. Oh yea and the two loops with the snaps go to the back of your JK Unzip both sides of your back window up to the top look inside at the frame for the soft top you should see a snap on each side. roll your rear window towards the inside and you can slip the loops over the roll to hold it out of the way for loading/unloading of just short trips where you dont want to completely remove the back window.

Thanks Jeepluv07

I do appreciate not having to find out things the hard way. One other question and that is will the 4 dr jk go thru the car wash with thr brushes and would you not recomend it?

I have not tried to put mine through an automatic carwash I mean where i live at it doesnt cost much more to go and let the local old fashioned detail wash take care of it that way i just get to sit back and watch them wash it:D

how about driving it through a touchless car wash? any thoughts.. I would think that would be better than a regular car wash

Never had an issue with my Tj, brought it through a bunch of times :)

i've had no real problems washing my 2dr in a touchless car wash, though i am a little worried about the soft top windows thinking they're going to come out with some type of bend in the plastic. when possible, i just spend the extra $10 to have it done by hand.

Reading in the owners manual it suggests not taking it thru a automatic car wash. Not sure why tho. didn't get any full reason
