Need quick tire advice '12 Rubicon

Father in law is looking to purchase new tires for his rubicon.

It is 95% onroad/highway and 5% driving around his ranches. Hes most concerned about the quietness and overall highway performance.

He currently has BFG Mud_terrains KM's on it and doesn't like how loud they are. I suggested BFG KO AT's.

I suggested the 285/65-17, Load rated D version (32.8") for him to go to. Discount tire guy is telling him those are made for "big trucks" and telling him to go with a 265/70-17 (31.6") C rated BFG.

What are your thoughts on the size he should go with? I'm tempted to suggest him take my wrangler's off my sport, since I'm upgrading, since they are 255/75-17 and would cost him half the price.

Seriously, have him take yours :)
My rubi was loud as heck, when I traded in I couldn't believe how much better the ride was on road with the SAs.

If he really wants new tires, have him sell his take offs with yours and have him pick up "the combo" - 33x12.5x15 plus the rims. Quiet and fantastic for almost everything - just search for it on here. Looks mean and simply works. Also not much more to get 15's and rims than to simply get 17's on stock rims. Not much louder if any than the stock ones.

I LOVE my combo!!!

BFG AT's would be a great choice. LONG LONG life and ok off road for anything but nasty mud and slick rocks.

I love our AT/KO's
