Help me figure out which wrangler to get.

Well first off let me say that I'm looking for a Rubicon, but if money or availability blocks my purchase, what would be the next best model to look for? I really need an automatic for my wife in case she would need to drive it. But other than that that's about it.

I guess I should have included the years I'm looking for, 2000-2004. Thanks

Go on Creigs list, E-bay or check the car lots and papers around Grand County, Indiana.

Welcome. 1st rubicon started in 2003, not sure what your buget is but many 03/04 have been going for as low as 12 with most under 15k If you can't get a rubi I would look for a sport with the rear dana 44 axle at least. Has a metal fill plug in the diff cover vs the dana 35 round plastic fill plug.

it's a jeep, any model's good

For the price I would find a 2000 or newer sport with a 4.0L. It has the dana 44 rear end, nv3550 tranny is a better tranny than the auto. This will be a good starting point. If you plan on doing Major mods over the years that include axle swaps ect. Buy the basic model since you might be pulling most of the parts out in the future. Teach your wife how to drive a manual once my wife learned i couldn't keep her out of my rigs.

Just for a price reference, I got my 2004 Rubicon with 77k miles out the door for around 12.5k. Bone stock, by the way.

My budget is probably around 12, depending on what I can sell my 02 Superduty for. I have it listed on some Powerstroke forums for sale or trade, And I'm getting ready to list it in Indiana Auto Rv. I have tried Craigslist but I get nothing but a bunch of hagglers and tire kickers wasting my time.

So your looking for probably something like this
2004 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon

Or something like this in witch you would be wanting one with a D44 rear.. Not sure about this one but it looked perty and I like black
2000 jeep wrangler sahara

Wow. That Rubicon is shinier than new. You know that has never been off road. He shined BOTH sides of the original spare! I have never seen a detail job that meticulous.

Guess so cause since the time I posted it only just a little bit ago, It's been sold or the owner decided to keep it lol

Story of my luck:( Oh well I need to start asking more questions so I can list my truck on here. But trying to get quality posts sometimes takes a bit.:)

The only thing that worries me is I still owe on it, but I'm hoping to pay it off at tax time. Unless I sell it first and pay off the loan and use my tax return to bump me back up to buy a wrangler. Oh well I will figure it out.

I've decided I'm going to check out some new 2010 models, figure I may be able score some decent incentives and dealer markdowns. I'll see what happens tomorrow.
