last minute run thread......

Red gave me an idea since he said he'd probably be out wheeling every other weekend. All our events don't need to be big gatherings that are planned out for weeks. I know some of you all think about hitting the trails last minute.

If you're looking for company on a last minute run or looking for someone who's got a last minuted run, post up. Like I said, I can't wait all the way until August for run Big Bear, and John Bull is totally out for me, I don't have a big boy jeep like Chuck or Brian. But I'm up for runs whenever.

:D

RedRubiTJ 04-27-2007 11:31 PM

I'm up. If anyone wants to suggest a trail, I'll likely be there. I really only know Big Bear well ('cept Miller and LCIR [both closed]) but am willing to go anywhere to get off the pavement. If you want to go to BB next weeekend, I'm good, we can prolly hook up with Rawkon as well.

Oh, and we are not waiting for August, we are waiting for peoples to say yes to June... then August.

tiny terror 04-28-2007 12:31 PM

That's my problem, I'm not familiar with a lot of the area around here. Brian mentioned a place for mudding..... which I'm not above :D but I can't remember where.

I'd like to try one of those close trails we talked about some time ago..... Brian??? Just a short day some time soon maybe?? Spaz?? What about you??

RedRubiTJ 05-01-2007 09:10 PM

Rawkon is talking about being up in BB this weekend and perhaps doing Gold Mountain and Jacoby Canyon. Anyone interested? tiny? If yes perhaps we can meet up there around 9:30. I won't be staying up the hill but will be travelling up Sat morning and home Sat afternoon. We can finish both in well under a few hours. I have already cleared my schedule and am just waiting for other people interested.

emills 05-01-2007 10:29 PM

Damnit. I am going to be up there this weekend. But I won't be free for wheeling. We are going up to demo the inside of the cabin so we can start re-building it after it flooded. Have a good run.

Eric

Hey Chuck, I don't wanna hold you guys back if you want to do anything above my skill or jeep's ability. If it's a trail you think I can make, I'd love to. Is it in the same area?

RedRubiTJ 05-01-2007 11:16 PM

Come on Eric, just tell everyone you have to go to the store.... :D. Perhaps we will stop by and say hi depending on the timing.

tiny, you wouldn't be holding us back at all. You should have fun on these trails as they can be challenging but do not have any areas as tough as the gardens on Holocmb Creek.

There is a garden on Gold Mountain which can take a while, but we can get you through it NP or you can easily bypass it as well. One of the reasons Kevin and I want to do this trail is the rumors of closing this garden soon.

These trails are in the same area, but are much closer to the highway (18). I was thinking if you want to we could meet in Corona and you could follow me up and then back down again.

Let's wait to hear from Rawkon for a positive confirmation though.

Scout you coming as well? If so, you had better leave soon :D.

Rawkon 05-01-2007 11:22 PM

IM there, The rock garden is much easier then it use to be. it just looks cool, i did it runnin a bb and not even close to getting stuck or damage. theres multiple lines and some bowls to crawl in.9:30 works for me, i cant be out late i have chores to do haha.

RedRubiTJ 05-01-2007 11:34 PM

Ok rawkon, so you, wayne, me and tiny. We won't keep you out late as I want to be down the hill early as well. GM then JC or the other way around? It's usually faster to do JC first and run GM down since you don't have to wait behind a line going up GM but either way works for me.

I'll give you a call when we are close and we can meet up.

If anyone else wants in we have room for a couple more. I want to keep this kind of small since we don't want to spend all day up there.

Rawkon 05-02-2007 12:38 AM

JC then GM works for me, i havnt run it that way in a long time.

Silent 05-02-2007 12:40 AM

i wanna plan a small trip to corona and take my explorer on the fire trails. i get my lisence in june so i can take it out in sometime of june. so Eric, Chuck, and Brian (i already told tiny.) and to anyone else who wants to come.

hopefully my lift and tires are on before then.

RedRubiTJ 05-02-2007 12:57 AM

Silent, I will be up for that depending on the weekend. I will be busy the 2nd and 3rd and we are planning another WF run some time in June (6-9/10 or 6-16/17?) as well so as long as it's none of those I am good. I am sure we can work something out.

Scout 05-02-2007 08:09 AM

No I can't make it RRTJ. You guys are too hard core for me. :D

Have fun though and take lots of pics!

I'd love to, but I can't. :(

But you know where I am, so feel free to swing by to say hi while you are there if you have the time and energy. Might want to call first just in case if you do though. If you don't have the cabin number still, then PM me for it. My cell doesn't work there - only my blackberry did - but I don't have one of those yet at the new job.

Eric

Silent 05-02-2007 02:59 PM

alright cool  well anytime thats good for you guys is fine with me. i am leaving in june for about 2 1/2 weeks (dont know the exact date.) but ill find out and let you know.

Tiny took me to the small trails behind her house and that just got me more hooked on off-roading. thanks again Tiny.

and hey tiny im ording my tow hooks sometime this week i found some for really cheap.

THE REBUILDING STARTS!!

Rawkon 05-02-2007 06:46 PM

hey guys i just dound out a HUGE group of Naxja members are doing a run up in big bear this weekend. Im gonna try and find out there time tables so we stay off the trails they will be on.

RedRubiTJ 05-02-2007 07:33 PM

May 4-7 is the NAXJA SoCal Fest. They will not decide on trails until after their daily "meets" which occur at 9:00 AM at the Discovery Center on Sat and Sun.

You can pretty much guarantee they will run GM and JC, but we won't know the status until we get there would be my guess. As long as we can get on the trail head by 9:00 or 9:30 we should be ok depending on which way they run them.

Rawkon 05-02-2007 08:36 PM

sounds like a plan. I talked to wayne and he said he will be there

tiny terror 05-02-2007 11:46 PM

(bruce wayne? you guys know Batman??)

Where can we meet in Corona and what time Chuck?

I'm still making sure I've got every thing in order to be able to make it but it looks like a go for me.

RedRubiTJ 05-03-2007 12:21 AM

Wayne is the guy with the big green TJ that joined us last time. It's the Jeep with that really really cool winch on it ;) .

Perhaps if we met at the McKinley off ramp off of the 91 east of the 15. Probably about 7:15 so we could beat the crowds to the trails.

Silent 05-03-2007 12:22 AM

YOU GUYS ARE GOING TO BIG BEAR THIS WEEKEND!!!

JeepGuyLJ 05-03-2007 01:52 PM

I might be in bigbear this friday with my cousin its going to be me in my jeep and him in his honda ridgeline. Ill let let you guys know for sure later on. I know a what you guys going to say about the honda but he has a 2" lift with Wrangler SilentArmor tires with kevlar, and he also has a rear locker. Pertty neat for a honda.

RedRubiTJ 05-03-2007 01:56 PM

JeepGuyLJ, just to clarify, does that mean you might be up there Saturday as well?

JeepGuyLJ 05-03-2007 01:59 PM

Yes most likely, But not sure for how long.

Rawkon 05-03-2007 06:56 PM

the two trails were running are pretty easy, it wont take long to run them, granted nothing goes boom or a certain honda ridgline doesnt hold us up hahaha. just kidden ive see the ridgline 4wd stuff work and it would do fine. prolly put a few tires up in the air but thats what IFS and IRS will do to ya. i call dibs on pulling out the ridgline hahaha

Just let us know next time you're ready. I'm still going wheeling this weekend and next, but am open to go the following two weekends as well  . I need to hit Cleghorn, Dishpan Springs / Deep Creek, and Pontiac Sluice in the very near future - not necessarily in one trip or that order.
