Sold my YJ - considering a JK or CJ

Sold my YJ a few days ago so my son could get his dream ram... He has medical issues so I do what I can for him, but I gotta say I miss my YJ more than anything I have owned. And the idea of getting a CJ or JK has come up for "reliability" but I just loved my YJ and it's metal bolted body.. Anyone have any opinion on the CJ or JK in comparison? I mean I know a newer Jeep would be more reliable and I prob need that but is it as "Jeepy" feeling? Or am I going to feel like I am driving a chrysler.. My YJ had 33's and a 2.5" lift. Going over any small bump in the road was ..interesting.. It was the most wonderful thing I have owned car or otherwise ever...

Kudo's to you for helping your son and selling your Jeep to help him out and it shows what is more important in life.:thumb: You should get a lot of answers to your question but here's mine.

I bought a 2008 Sahara 4dr auto new and then later bought a 98TJ auto because some of the roads where we trail are early mining roads and there was no way to turn the 4dr around on some of the roads. Both Jeeps are coil springs and on a trip I'd rather drive the 4-dr because it's newer and rides smoother. However I enjoy driving either one of them the same (except for a long haul).

Good luck on your decision.

Get out and drive one!! That's the only way you'll know how it feels. JKs are much more comfortable to drive, but they're every bit a Jeep!

X2 My girlfriend has a TJ, 06 sport. Totally different ride than my JK. Test drive the JK. NO question.

Just wondering why you aren't considering a TJ or another YJ as well. It seems you are looking for either one extreme or the other.

Being the JK section, I think you will mainly get the JK praise. Most of us in the forum love our JK's. The thing about a JK is it can go from the trail to the road and is fun to ride on both.

Well my son has a very rare form of muscular dystrophy and the only one that effects the heart, so I got stuck in my YJ on the Southern State on Long Island and had to get jumped then it died again.. being that I have an hour commute and I plan on using my Wrangler as a DD I should really have a reliable one (even though if there was an emergency with him you know I would steal anything to get to him if my rig was't working) but that seems to be the overall opinion.. that I get a reliable one. So I was ondering how these are... I plan on test driving it but I would most likely lift it and put on larger tires and I trying to recreate the feel of my YJ with the reliability of a newer Wrangler.. Does that make sense? And by the way I am not a big guy who is going to be under the hood of a Wrangler on a cold night on the side of Parkway, I am a single mom... and as much as I picture myself fixing as a mechanic I have to think about my boy.. So any opinions are appreciated.. The YJ was a dream and I loved it.. I cried (acutal tears) when it drove away... But it did go a Jeep family, the wife, husband and two sons all have Jeeps so I know it isn't being abused. Two CJ's and a YJ.. well now two YJ's :nonono:...

I had CJs many years ago. I would get the JK. It drives better on the highway, and is fuel injected. Always hated stalling on the steep hills in a carbereted engine.

And much prefer the coil suspension.

I guess I'm looking to get talked into the JK since I loved my YJ so much.. haha. Keep telling me the benefits... I plan on test driving one this weekend....
