2011 JK unlimited softop leak
Greetings, just had dealer installed softop put on my '11 Sahara which came with hardtop not dualtop option. Am getting leaks on driver side & rear storage when parked in rain, no leaks when driving. Any help is appreciated.
Welcome to the club. I have leaks also. Living in North Florida (South Georgia) rain an almost constant thing. Hurricanes are nice, too.
I have a 2011 jku with a soft top, and it has leaked every time it has rained since I bought it in December. I have taken it in twice for this problem, and both time they said they fixed it.
I took it it again and had the Service Manager look at it. He said he is going to do his best to get it fixed, but the way he said it wasnt very reassuring. I have (although very little) confidence that if it can be fixed, he will make sure it gets fixed. I am taking it in tomorrow morning. I love driving 30 mintues to leave my Jeep with the people at the dealership!
The question I have as of today is... can it be fixed?
I live about 45 minutes from the coast, and I am surrounded by springs, sinkholes, rivers, and lakes. To me this seems like the perfect reason to have a soft top. It also rains all the time. During the summer it rains every day. Hard. I dont know yet what it will be like when the real rains starts.
As of today I am waiting to see what happens. Other than the water in the interior of the vehicle where it doesnt belong, the Jeep is awesome. I am worried about the integrity of the interior components though. I wonder if the moisture is going to affect things down the road.
If I were you I would take it to the dealer as many times as it takes to get them to first acknowledge the problem and second to fix it.
Hope that helps.
There's a soft rubber weather strip that stretches across the entire front windshield at the top where the front edge of the soft top meets the windshield frame. Sometimes when I put the top up, that weather seal can get bunched up between the soft top and the windshield frame. Most of the time I can press it back into place with my finger after the soft top has been locked into place. Other times I open the front clamp just slightly so a bigger gap is created to push it into place, and then I close the clamps back down.
Thanks for the replies
I have played with the seals and had some light rain and no leaks, I guess I'll have to wait for a heavy rain to see if it did any good. I have the same distance issue wth my dealer, 45 minute drive, and little confidence in their service dept. But I do love the Jeep and can't wait to keep the top down when spring gets here - hopefully soon. Thanks again for the help and good luck with your leak issue.
