4cyl motor swap

looking to swap out my 4 banger for a 6 in my 97 wrangler, reason is not enough power to pull my 33.Or does anyone know what to do to get more power out of the 4cyl.how hard is a motor swap.

Not an easy swap and you need some fabrication skills as it mounts in a different position. You would do good if you got everything from a donor jeep. Complete drivetrain and electronics. It would almost be as easy to put in a chevy v8. The 4cyl is what it is and if you spent a bunch of money...it would still what it is. Gear change may be money better spent. IMO
What gears do you have and is it manual or automatic?

Best suggestion would be to sell your Jeep and buy a 6 cylinder Jeep. It'll be a lot easier on the pocketbook. A motor swap would be extremely involved and spendy... you'd also need to upgrade your drivetrain, axles etc.

I've heard a lot of people wanting to get more power out of their Jeeps or folks just not happy with the performance of their 4 banger Jeeps. One thing to keep in mind is that Jeeps weren't meant to be race machines... they are the exact opposite of aerodynamic. i'd just make sure that maintenance is kept up, and make sure your diffs are geared properly for your tire lift combo.... other than that its not going to get much better without some serious cash being spent to make performance mods.

I on the other hand drive a 4 cylinder jeep and with my set up I can cruise the freeway at 75-80mph with no problem. Mine is mostly stock though. Just a tad bigger on the tires.

I think you'd be throwing money away honestly if you buy an intake/chip. I'd say if you're running 33's maybe look into re-gearing the diffs if you aren't happy with the performance. Maybe go up to 4.56's or 4.88's. Freeway speeds will be easier to maintain, but higher RPM's
