Just saw this on Autoblog. God I hope they build it.
Looks like AEV had their hands in the design.

There is a kit in the Quadratec catalog to do this to the TJ's. It's pretty price though!

stainless 05-10-2007 01:36 PM

Yeah thats AEV's Brute kit. I LOVE the Brute, but this might have it beat.

AzTJ 05-10-2007 01:57 PM

That is not the Brute kit... Brutes are built only with TJ bodies and frames that is a JK. That is actually a body built for the Egyptian army. I read it somewhere... one guy took a bunch of photos of it at the Easter Jeep Moab humdinger.

Yeah, my last post was in reference to Hanks comment about the kit Quadratec sells.

Are you saying that this JK Unlimited based pickup is something for the Egyption Army? That doesn't make since.
Whatever the case, its supposed to be formally released at SEMA, so I guess we'll see.

AzTJ 05-10-2007 02:22 PM

Ever see a Wrangler TJL? They were built for overseas and namly an army vehicle for those who wanted to buy them. The UK has 'em, and even Egypt.

Project-JK.com:

"Now, if there was one thing I saw in Moab that everyone seemed to be talking about at the 2007 Moab Easter Jeep Safari, it would have to be way cool beige Skunkwerks “JT” or Jeep Truck concept vehicle. Not exactly a Gladiator (which was also on display), the JT was apparently built off of a JK Unlimited frame and utilized an Egyptian military body as a base to fab up this great looking light pick-up truck with removable cab and flat fenders. Although there may never be a market for a light pick-up in America again, I have to say that the sheer simplicity of it’s design truly made this Jeep a real looker."

But why show off a "concept vehicle" at SEMA? SEMA is for the aftermarket which means that this would be some kind of kit like the Brute. I think it was something for Skunkwerks to tease us with is all.

I seen some like that in an offroad magazine a Soldier had sent in. Jeep is stupid for not saling stuff like that here it is bad ass and would sale good here to.

stainless 05-10-2007 02:35 PM

Yeah, I've seen a few different versions of that TJ-L, mainly as safari rigs in South Africa where they pull duty alongside old stretched "Series" Land Rovers.

As far as it being released at SEMA...I don't know. It's possible that other systems on the truck are the actual SEMA material and this is an eye-catching vehicle to put them on.

I guess we'll see.

Mike001 05-10-2007 02:42 PM

The only thing I can't seem to ever like about the JK is, well besides the flenders but that dont bother me bad really, are the stupid ass lookin rear goffy angled fenders it takes awy from the traditional looking Jeep.

JeepGuyLJ 05-10-2007 02:44 PM

WOW! i want it, looks real tuff.

stainless 05-10-2007 03:03 PM

I bet this thing looks the business with the top and doors off, too. Unlike the TJ-Brute, the lines on this look like they will flow with no top or doors.

I can see it with a snorkel with one of those clear plastic precleaners on top going across the outback...or my backyard.

RatherBNarizona 05-10-2007 05:08 PM

the brute kit is sick!
too bad its over $9,000 just for parts (that doesnt include labor!)
but its awesome!

binaryking 05-10-2007 06:59 PM

looks like the Gladiator to me.

Yeah - where is the extended cab on the "JT" ? The Gladiator has a small backseats... and the spare tire is mounted on the side of the bed. Of course the Gladiator and JK share the same front end, but from the front bucket seats back to the rear bumper they are completly different.

All I meant was that they are both a pickup version of a JK. I wasn't trying to over analyze anything. hint hint. :)

AzTJ 05-11-2007 05:38 PM

But I'd much rather have a Gladiator than a TJ/JK with a small bed.

stainless 05-14-2007 07:17 AM

For some reason I was thinking the Gladiator was built on the Rescue chassis. That would have made it about the size a T100 or Hilux.
