Cheap fog lights, worth my time?

Im looking to add a little "pop" to my jeep and Im thinking about putting on some fog lights on the front bumper.
Id mainly be doing this for looks but id also like the lights to work good. Im not sure if I want a fog type of light I can use with my low and high beams or a long distance driving light to use with high beams. Ill probably go with the cheapest, which brings me to a question.

are cheap lights worth the time? I dont do any rough wheeling but i do a fair share of bumpy road driving. (sand dunes probably being the bumpiest I do) I wouldn't want anything thats going to break unless the replacement is cheap and easy.

I also am not much of a fabricator, so an easy install would be nice. (I have no AUX switch as of now)

would something like $50 fog lights from autozone be a waste of time?
what do I need to know?
any suggestions?
I have a ProComp Genuine Steel front bumper....

I can get more pics tomorrow if needed.

thanks =)

IMO spend a few dollars more and at least get some Hella 500's. I have used them on all my off-road vehicles as they also work well when traveling at night from California to Colorado on the back roads

Hella 500's are nice for the price. I picked up a set at Advanced Auto Parts for around $68 dollars at one time. I put the on my S-10 when I had it. They worked really well.

70 bucks sounds good. do thay normally come with mounting brackets and wiring?
how about a switch?

i got my lights from auto zone lol. and they seem to do the job just fine. i have fog lights on my grille and long range lights mounted on my windshield. they are very bright, and help with night driving ALOT.

Yeah they had everything in the box when I bought them. Pretty easy installation.

^^Hellas are great! I bought the 3 1/2" Warn fogs and they help immensely at night! They cost $120 but have been worth the price for me. I wired them into the factory switch but they come with a simple wiring kit and a remote control. The plus side is that you don't blind other drivers until their already passing you and you can see deer on the banks ready to jump. And they have a metal mounting bracket that won't break if you do hit a deer.

I like the windshield lights too, but only 1 thing at a time and I need a lift and 33s before I cover it in lights. hhaha dont wanna look too much like a poser. ;) haha

hella 500s it is. Im just getting started into this idea and will tinker with the idea a bit.
still open to any suggestions or how to do's

I have Hella 500s mounted on the windshield hinges and I'm gonna need to get the shields or make my own because the lights lite up the hood and it is blinding! Another option is to paint the hood flat black... I ain't doin that!!

i spent $20 on a pair of round advanced auto lights. they work great. sure they are not long range off road lights, but they do exactly what i want them to do. also the best lights i have ever had in snow. they came with everything needed, switch, wires, and a universal mounting plate.

not the best picture, and not on a jeep, but you get the general idea

hellas are the way to go... they have saved my life/ jeep a couple times when I spotted deer ready to jump out. Couldn't have seen it with my stock lights

I went with KC slim lights #121 black, 130 w. they will be mounted on my windshield,

got the lights and all the wiring, and switch and stuff, and the window mounts
all shipped for $228

I hope they don't let me down,
many people have said they rock
and that the difference between el cheap o's and spending some $$$$ is huge. time will tell

Tried the "economy" type on my '94 YJ. My'04 Sport has KC slimlights and the replacement for factory fog/driving lights. Big difference the KC's are great!

My opinion do it once right with quality parts-get the best you can afford, and that you will use.
