Went to dealer for service today, and they recommended that i install the updated steering damper on my 2006 TJ Rubicon. The service rep indicated this new part is a lot beefier than the one that came stock on my vehicle, and it is supposed to fix some wobbling issues (didn't really notice any issue with my vehicle, tbh). I went ahead and got the new part, but wondering if I did the right thing. How much better is the new version of their steering damper?

It's better for the dealership in that they made some extra $$$ from you. You could have gone with something like from Rancho which is beefier yet for less $$$. :)

It is not. What you really want to do it drive it down the road without a damper at all and make it run true and not wobble. Then toss the damper on if you want. I have not run a damper on mine in over a year. I run my jeep hard and I am just going to put a monroe stocker on it that costs less then 30 bucks.

the dealer stabilizer sucks. buy one from Skyjacker, OME, Rubicon Express, or Monroe. Pretty much every aftermarket steering stabilizer will be 10x better than whatever bs the dealership is hocking.
