Diesel Grand Cherokees are out there now.

Just in case anyone has been waiting for a diesel grand cherokee, you can now get them in the U.S. They are a 3.0 v6 diesel and you have to order an Overland Edition to get it. Just been getting conflicting reports from DC on the subject lately, but I've actually seen them with my own eyes. They do in fact exist. At $46K though, they sure aren't cheap.

is that the same reason why you only have the 3.8L JK over there?
the 2.8 CRD is much more powerful...

Yup, our diesels have to run ultra low sulfur diesel.

oh that´s new to me...

then i wish to you over there that the JK 2.8 CRD will available soon in the US.
the difference between the 2.0CRD and the 3.8L ist like between the 2.4L and 4.0L TJ in lower RPMs.
only at higher RPMs (+3500) both engines are equal.
