Finally Got 'Em!!

Finally got the new tires for "BRUTUS."...:action-smiley: I went with the FALKEN ROCKY MOUNTAIN A/T's. I gotta say that they are sweeter in person!! Man...they are awesome looking tires for sure!! The aggressive stance, and the aggressive tread design are some head turning features!! I've had them for only 2 days, and I have already had about 10 people wanting to know what kind of tires they are, and who makes them!! I'm glad I went with the FALKENS!! Definitely not the most expensive tire out on the market, but $$ isn't always what it's all about. If anyone is looking for a "Bang For Your Buck" tire, then do yourself a favor, and check them out. I was able to get mine for $130.00 each, and they listed for $140.00. Installed...Balanced etc...and out the doors for around $650.00!! Falken Tires are also offering a $50.00 rebate on the Rocky Mountain A/T's until Feb. 28th, which helps out on the total cost. I did however purchase the Certificates for Repair, Refund, or Replacement for $22.00 extra per tire, which is something that you should consider, because it's a very good way to protect your purchase!! Here's how it works...

In the event one or more of your tires with certificates fail due to defect, or incurs road hazard damage that cannot be repaired, Discount Tire/America's Tire will replace it at no additional charge. Regardless of the number of miles you put on the tires, you will be covered for the life of the original tread down to 3/32's remaining.

I know that a lot of people are faithful to a certain brand of tires, and I understand that, but if you are open to other options, and maybe cost is another consideration then check the FALKEN's out. You will also be getting a quality tire as well. I haven't really had the chance to do any Trail Blazingyet, but I do know this...they are extremely quiet A/T tires... considering how aggressive the tread is. Highway riding was a "DREAM." The handling is outstanding!! The tires just hug the road, and it was pretty hard to break them loose. I'm just tossing this information out there for others to see, and consider!! If you are still unsure...then check out the reviews for yourself. Go to some of the Off-Road/Four Wheeler web sites, and read their reviews. There have been some negative reviews out there, but a lot of them are from people putting them on larger, full/over sized trucks. The tires are for Light Trucks, or smaller SUV's. I will try to get some pics. of the tires up soon!! Happy Tire Hunting, and here is a couple links to the Falken Rocky Mountain Tire Video...

Owen_TJ 02-20-2011 08:48 PM

I'm goin with those as well...i think we were posting in the same thread a few days ago as well when i posted the link to these and the pic of a jk with them on!

glad ya got them!

I've been lookin at them for a couple months now and cant wait to put them on...just need to come up with the cash first haha

BuckNutz1070 02-20-2011 10:03 PM

Great Choice!! What size are you going with?

BuckNutz1070 02-20-2011 10:05 PM

I'm still learning this Forum!! I'm having trouble uploading my pictures!! I posted this on another hread, but I meant to post it on this one!! Oh well...just more info. out there...ROFLMAO!!

Owen_TJ 02-21-2011 01:25 AM

I'm gonna go with 31x10.5's

I'm also putting a 3" zone lift on there as well...i know i can fit 33's under there, but i like the look of the 31 better...just my opinion though lol

Should look great with my rims though...cant wait to get it all on there, should be goin on the first part of April

BuckNutz1070 02-21-2011 09:51 AM

Nice!! I just changed to 31x10.5x15's!! great choice...I just need to know what I need to do to prevent the tires from rubbing, on tight turns. By the way...how much is it to get a lift kit? I think before I did the lift, I would put new rims on. I really like those blacked out rims!!

Owen_TJ 02-21-2011 12:05 PM

Thanks man (assuming your talking about my rims)...i got a hell of a deal on these rims. Cheapest i found them was on ebay for 120 a wheel but i became friends with the service manager at my local dealer and he gave me a full set of 5 for 398 out the door...which was 75 a wheel. I've also got black lug nuts so everything blends in...just dont have a pic of them yet since they dont get here until tuesday. I actually bought his last two sets of these and sold one for about 160 profit the same tday.

They're called "mickey thompson limited edition signature series"

Great choice for the 31's as well...if you wanna go a cheaper route, you could just get a 2" budget boost from skyjacker which is only about 250 for the lift.

I'm going with a 3" zone lift and its about 450 with shipping...then whatever it is to get put on.

I've already got rims and the lugs so next on the list is the lift and when i do that i'll probably just get the tires at the same time. I know i wont have any rubbing since my rims have 4" backspacing so i can fit 33's on there without rub once its lifted...

heres a link to the budget boost

And heres the zone lift...

Great choice Matt. Did you snap any pictures of them installed yet?

BuckNutz1070 02-22-2011 08:19 AM

Hey!! No I have not as of yet, but I will take some today!! Thanks for everything that Discount Tire has done for me!!

BuckNutz1070 02-22-2011 08:23 AM

I'm seriously thinking about lifting, but I also think that I may paint my rims instead of buying new ones. It doesn't seem to be too involved, as long as you have the proper materials to do it. Could save hundreds of dollars!! Here is a link to one of the videos I saw on You Tube...

I really want to go "Black Out" on my rims!!

Discount Tire 02-22-2011 09:39 AM

Blacked out Wheels may look great on your Jeep. I've seen a few forum members paint their wheels, if you go forward with it. Take your time and make sure you properly prep them. It will make a big difference in the end.

sill'r B sill'd 02-22-2011 09:48 AM

if you end up painting your wheels, let us know how it turned out!

BuckNutz1070 02-22-2011 03:35 PM

Thanks for your input!! I told my wife last night that I was going to black out my rims, and she said that she didn't like it. Plus it will definitely be an improvement. I believe I can do it. Check out how I re-modded one of my Guitars...

FINISHED OSU GUITAR | Facebook

Owen_TJ 02-22-2011 09:29 PM

I'd go with powdercoat instead of paint...it'll hold up a lot better than a normal painted wheel.

That being said...i also vote you lift the jeep.

I'm hopefully picking up my 3" lift in march and will be putting those rocky mountain falkens on...and i was recently informed they make a 32" so i'll be going with a 32x11.5x15 for my TJ

Black lugs are also installed now! Look great on the black wheels i've got

How much does Powder Coating cost? That sounds pretty cool as well...

minigfather 02-23-2011 06:55 PM

Nice choice on the tires man. I was gonna get them as well. They didnt have them in stock in the 30X9.5 size so i went with the Falken Wild Peak A/T's which from what I have heard are the exact same tire...look the same and everything. Ive had mine for about 2 weeks and they are an awesome tire so far.

BuckNutz1070 02-23-2011 07:16 PM

Yeah...I am totally happy with my Rocky Mountains so far. Been a lot of rain here the past several days, and it's really difficult to break the tires loose. They hold really well. Like I said before...I think they are one of those "Sleeper" tires, and I think a definite "Bang For Your Buck!!" I believe the Wild Peaks are the same as the Rocky Mountains, just made for other tire companies...at least I think so!!

minigfather 02-23-2011 09:08 PM

Yeah I hope to do a little wheeling soon and try them out. I got to use them in snow and ice on Tuesday morning. About 4 inches or so. They did awesome. I dunno about them being made for different companies but there both made my Falken.

Thanks man! Too bad my bike wheels werent 40 haha...because i did a two part coat, they were 100 a wheel

BuckNutz1070 03-02-2011 03:29 AM

Not as much $$ as I thought it would be. Given the cost...I may just have them powder coated, but I would love that experience of doing my own rims!! Gotta have Black...just gotta!!
