Im confused.... do you mean the plastic flares?

or the metal fenders?..

or do you have a JK with the plastic fenders...

Triple88a 05-20-2007 11:23 AM

He asked for most durable that wont bend easily.. that should be some kind of metals:)

If he's mentioning the Bushwacker products then he's talking about the fender flares.

Triple88a 05-20-2007 02:06 PM

you can make fender flares out of metal cant you? I think i'm seen a pic somewhere through yahoo images

i was talking about tube fenders not just the flares..

I like pocket stile flares too though :) If i dont get tubes id get the pockets

RedRubiTJ 05-20-2007 03:25 PM

I like the way we are all guessing as to what he is actually talking about :D.

My turn: it appears that he is referring to flares and currently has a Sahara because his are painted.

If that is the case, and you are just having problems with the stock painted flares gretting scratches, I would suggest stock unpainted or Rubicon (wider) flares - preferably newer used ones. Any flares you get will still scratch up but in my opinion it is less noticeable on the unpainted and from what I have seen the OEM seem to hold up the best.

The only other option would be flared tube fenders and flared rear corners that I am aware of.

Triple88a 05-20-2007 03:33 PM

What about a tube going around the fenders like an outlining?

1BLKJP 05-20-2007 03:50 PM

Red, I have a Sahara also and I'm pretty sure the flares are the same width as a Rubicon's flares are. I actually like the Sahara flares because they are stronger than the stock flares and help protect my fenders and body in the rear.

RedRubiTJ 05-20-2007 04:12 PM

Jack, the Sahara's are as wide as the Rubi's (at least Eric's painted LJ flares are). They are both wider than what is on the SE, X and Sport. I agree that the painted are prolly stronger and even scratch less easily (clearcoat) but from what I've seen the scratches aren't as visible/noticeable (unbuffed) on the black unpainted. It does vary a great deal by color though. An advantage to the painted is they can be buffed out if done properly and given the right color combo/rig they often look better IMHO (I really like painted flares in combination with a color matched top).

MoA 05-20-2007 10:40 PM

yes im talkin about the flares.. and yes i do have a sahara.. i got the goldish tan color.. and its extremely noticable.. and its not the problem that they become scratched.. its that they bend and crack n crap =/ ive replaced my front passenger fender flare 2xs already.. gettin expensive..

sumone told me they thought sumone made rubber fenders.. taht would be sweet compaired to the plastic ones..

and yes sahara fenders are the same as the rubis i think

and red.. ud like my jeep

goldish tan.. with the forest green and tan interior.. and a tan hard/soft top..

its sweet =D only other jeep id drive with be black on black

Mike001 05-20-2007 11:05 PM

Scout 05-20-2007 11:06 PM

AzTJ 06-18-2007 12:08 AM

Yes - Tube Corners are the rear set.

2002Apex 06-18-2007 11:36 AM

I prefer to get my fender flairs rhinoed. It prevents sractching and never fades.

His hood isnt cut, but I agree 100%.

2000Apex- Rhino lining does fade. Even with the UV stuff, it fades, and you would have to do the rhino lining dye stuff. Judging by the smell of it, and the instructions from rhino lining, I can't see that stuff being good for the paint :really: :)

MR.CLIFFORD 06-18-2007 02:20 PM

Cut the hood.
