The Sweet Moment?

When I got home at 1 am from the movies I pulled into the drive way, turned off my lights, turned the engine off and layed my seat back and just sat back with my eyes closed and let that sweet sound of the soft rain fill my ears as it bounced off the soft top of my Jeep.

It reminded me of when I was a little kid and camped out in the backyard while it stormed. That moment when I got home really made me feel lucky to own a jeep.

Has anyone else found their sweet moment in owning a jeep? A moment that just stood out that let you know you had made the right decision?

I was heading home from a friends wedding several years back, heading from KY to GA on a snow covered I-75 near Lexington, KY. When the semi truck that was behind me clipped the rear driver's side of the Jeep and sent me into a spin. Everything went into slow motion. As the jeep completed the spin it slammed back into the semi trailer just infront of the rear wheels, the metal sounds are something I shall never forget. The hood crushed and the airbags went off and the semi kept going. The jeep came to a stop on the snow cover side of the highway. As I sat there stopped for a moment, a women who was in a suv behind me came yelling the jeep was on fire, when in reality it was just the left over dust cloud of the airbag's going off. I was fine, a bit sore of course, but considering the impact I was happy to be alive.

Now skip forward 24hrs, On the way home in the rental car, I had a few semi's pass me, and as they did I looked at the rear tire's on the trailer, then at the low sitting car I was in... Yeah I made the right decision to buy my Jeep. A few days later the insureance company totaled the jeep and I was off to the dealer to get a new one.

I don't know if I could narrow it down to one sweet moment, I've had so many great experiences in our Jeep. I am no good at putting things into words but If I had to come up with one time it would be the first time I ran topless. Sitting at a traffic light looking down at the other cars, then thinking to myself "Dang I'm lucky to have a Jeep on a great sunny day like this".:D Best sun burn I have ever had on the top of my head.:D

Yeah me and my wife, girl friend at the time went out with the top off and it was a dark starry night lade the seats back and well I'm gonna leave it at that. Jeeps are like those little liberator blocks though.

x2 Mike. When I first bought my old one, I took it up to my farm in WV (300 acres, 70% mountainous) and took it up to the "ridge." It was a real clear night, real comfy temp, top and doors off, just sitting up at the top of this mountain in WV starring at the stars and falling stars etc.. That is the moment I knew I would always own Jeeps :)

All you have to do is drive down a dark county road, I know they got them in Arlington.

My moment of clarity, was renting a Jeep, for the first time, and doing things with it, that was not possible in any other vehicle. That hooked me, for life. The rest, is just history........lol.

:D Youll get all sorts of wierd tans in Jeeps with the top/doors off. Always carry good, sweatproff, non-running, spray type sunblock in your center console :) Jeep lesson #2. #1 is obviously the wave :)

I live in Souther California and traffic is a nightmare. Everytime I find a dirt trail that takes me around traffic, that's my sweet moment. Oh yah.

I knew from the start...BUT, when I first got it, my wife was not terribly happy with it - didn't even want to get in it. The first nice day, I took down the top and pulled off the doors, and took her for a ride. At first, she wanted to hate it, but we got about 200 ft from the driveway and she was grinning from ear to ear. That is when I knew we had a new member of the family!

Exactly why I go into new things with a open mind, you never get anywhere if your not open. I have two family members that are some of the most closed minded fools you will ever meet. Drives me up a wall.

I'd liked jeeps since I was a little girl but didn't get one until right after Skeeter and I got married. I knew it was right for me when we took a YJ for a test drive. We took it off road. :D It was just a small, muddy, hill but I was hooked. We had to take it to a car wash to clean it up before going back to the dealership to sign the papers. :D
