Rear main seal
Any idea how hard this is to do on an 89 Wrangler?

Remove transmission and flywheel, remove rear main and reinstall. U sure it's not a valve cover leaking down the back side of the engine? I've replaced hundreds of leaky valve cover gaskets and have only seen a handful of rear mains that were leaking. But I have seen many misdiagnosed rear main seals. Normally the oil pan will leak b4 a rear main will. Good luck though if it is a rear main. Just remember to lube the part of the seal that touches the crankshaft with motor oil, clean all surfaces perfectly, and install the seal square to the crank. It needs to be installed evenly or else u could damage the seal. Ask me how I know. :-P

Not really sure. Just bought this jeep with plow for hubby's bday and its becoming a headache. any suggestions on place to get cheap floorpan? Previous owner only put 6000 miles in last 6 yrs. I have a feeling a lot of the seals dried up. Got a great deal on it, looks good (body), ton of new parts alt, starter, battery, brakes, 3 yr old tranny, new HEI distributor, hard and soft top, and new plow subframe. New family project toy.

I had 2 in the shop today with valve cover gaskets leaking, I should have taken a picture for u. Basically, look on top of the engine, especially near the back passenger side, and see if there is a shiny residue back there. Oil will run down the sides, and back of the head, following the transmission bell housing around, down the sides of the block, and finally drip off of the oil pan. Seals will dry up over time and that valve cover gasket is very common.
