June 11 BadLandz Trip

hey ya'll,

the guys over on the Indiana site have asked me (a Hoosier to Illini transplant) to post here and see if anyone is a definite go for the June 11-12th trip they have planned. They just want to get a count and get an appx # of camp sites to reserve. We can work out a possible caravan later; once everyone is confirmed.

please just respond to this thread rather than PM as my blackberry doesn't like the PM screens for whatever reason and I'll probably be out more than not the next couple of days.

Soon-to-be a new jeeper here. If i've got mine by then I would definitely be interested.
Still making decisions on what I want in a jeep. test drove a 5spd 4.0 last week. haven't driven a stick in a long while, also never even sat in a wrangler before in my life. wanting to check out an auto 4.0 for comparison before i decide specifically what I want. looking for something between a 97 and 01. probably under 6-7k if possible. havent come across many meeting that criteria.

anyways, list me under "probable" status haha

BigEZ 03-30-2011 08:40 PM

no problem, keep me posted.
for your price range you might get lucky. not knowing your exact location, I'd say keep an eye on NW IN craigslist; they seem to go around a grand cheaper there than here.

rpblanchette87 04-01-2011 02:06 AM

awesome, thanks for the tip.
Looking at buying pretty much any time i see a decent deal. Definitely decided on the auto. test drove an 00 automatic with 150k miles today just to try it out. dealership wanted 11k for it. i laughed at them. Anyways, dont want to go turning this thread into something else.
back to the Badlandz Trip!

Will be going. Picking up an 01 TJ this saturday. already have cash down on it.

Hey EZ, I am plannin on goin out for that weekend as long as it isn't 100* out by then..I'm headin in from west of Joliet, I'm plannin on being in Attica by 2 on Friday so I can get 3 days of wheelin in....

deathphoenix99 04-15-2011 09:45 AM

^^^LIke it'd be 100 degrees, you'd be lucky for it to be in the 80's maybe 90's tops. I plan on riding quads over there around July 4th.

Ya I'm turnin into a diva in my old age.....Tentin it when it's hot out with out a/c kills me (and the alchohol doesn't help me sleep I've tried)...........
I don't like havin to go to LaFayette for a hotel.............

I keep tryin to convince the wif that I need a motor home to haul the jeep around....

.....so far it ain't workin........

deathphoenix99 04-15-2011 10:44 AM

Understandable. I'm from Kokomo, IN, so it's about an 80 mile drive for me when I go.

I would love to take a truck or SUV over there, but that's too much money, so I'll stick with quads for now.

Just for the spirit of Badlands.

yeah if it's 100* in early June I'll eat my hat. It's a big hat.
I hear ya on the heat tho. But at the rate this "spring" is going, we'll be lucky to hit mid 70s.

I'll keep everyone posted to developments. So far I know there are over 30 "confirmed," and a lot of us are bringing grills, burgers (venison from me) and a bunch of other stuff. Gonna be a good time.

JeeperJake 04-16-2011 12:06 PM

Last time I was thru the Badlands it was 110*+ and I was in no mood for much of anything.....although I did like the country the weather was intense. I'm 800 miles away so there's no way I can attend.

soon2bmarried 04-16-2011 12:25 PM

if all gooes good putting our jeep back together me and the new wife will be there

rpblanchette87 04-16-2011 04:03 PM

Was supposed to pick up my tj today. drove 3 hours each way to pick it up and for some reason the company (Nationwide) my loan is through decided not to show up to work or something. needless to say im irked. Thinking about asking them for gas money reimbursement
plan on being there though!

rpblanchette87 05-31-2011 11:33 AM

Bump!
got my tj. been out to badlands twice in the last month. List me as probable status. any idea on how many there are confirmed?

crikeyjeepturtles 06-11-2011 05:18 PM

I better see some pics guys!

moe 06-11-2011 06:53 PM

Hey crick, there's a DDO trip on the weekend of the 25th out at the badlands... If u can muster up some coin, were campin (shouldnt be too expensive) and its like $35 for two days of wheelin...

crikeyjeepturtles 06-12-2011 08:55 AM

yeah, I've seen it on their site. I just need one more piece to the Jeep puzzle. I bought some skyjacker shocks. Now I'm either waiting on a person to give me their old coil spacers or I may buy the 2in RC springs. I've really been itching to wheel.

moe 06-13-2011 04:35 PM

Crick, there is never "just one more piece" when it comes to a jeep. There will always be an upgrade or add on that you will have to have.......Its an addiction..... Just get used to spendin all your hard earned cash on it...

crikeyjeepturtles 06-13-2011 08:23 PM

i know, i know. but as for 'off-road readiness', I need that BB and that is all at the moment. The paycheck comes thursday and if I don't hear word from MbRich about his old coil spacers, I'll prob. just order new ones.

moe 06-13-2011 09:25 PM

Ya u should b able to get some for around $75
