I have to get a new battery and so I took out my battery tray to clean it up and paint it.... I then found this round thing with two vaccum lines coming from it..... the pics might be out of order but the one with the round thing and two vac lines coming out is what I'm talking about and the other two pics are where the lines go..

Haha thank you, it seems like every big repair or restoration on my jeep starts off like my signature and ends in disaster!

TOKKIE 03-10-2011 04:35 PM

The big round thing is a vacuum canister, usually used for cruise control.

TOKKIE 03-10-2011 04:37 PM

Just noticed this was in the yj forum. This may be for the vacuum operated front axle, not sure though someone that knows will chime in i'm sure.

Matcheen 03-10-2011 04:38 PM

I think that's the vac reserv. There to hold vac pressure. Somebody else may know better though.

You're carb'd I take it? Looks like emissions bullshit to me, but don't take my word for it. I'm an EFI kinda guy.

Abomination93 03-10-2011 06:28 PM

yes the big round ball looking thing is a vacuum reservoir, its used to keep vac on certain things at WOT so you dont lose them. the one pic looks like a series of electrically operated vac solenoids, and the last one i have no idea.

Well thank you for all the help guys... one last question if its for the emissions on my jeep meaning my ecm and I am nuttered, can I remove and cap it?

WhyJayPA 03-14-2011 05:59 PM

I installed an MC2100 and I removed the entire vac. reservoir (ball) and all the pulse air lines (bracket with 3 elbows) and everything attached to them and it runs fine. Instructions said to do this as well.

Uggghhh I am so close to buying the mc2100 but yet so far away... good to hear that, that's what I was hoping for!
