I picked up a footman loop this weekend from a local salvage yard. The piece, which I found online for around 40 bucks, was 10 bucks at the salvage yard, looked brand new, and also came with the strap, and the interior catch for the strap. The interior catch (Don't know the actual name, sorry) came in bare metal so I decided to rough it up a tad with some fine sandpaper, hit it with some black spray paint, and then with a little clear. Anyway, I did that just to keep busy. I doubt I'll ever be in need of it, if either of mine get scuffed up or anything I can just paint them, and I don't think it will ever break.
So here it is. I figure, if I were to sell this, it'd have to be cheap..I mean, it came as 1 of 3 pieces that I got for a total of 10 bucks..so dirt cheap..and then to ship it..it would be stupid for any of you guys to buy it. So here's my thing. First person to PM me with your address gets it. Don't post on here until I PM you back.
The conditions of this must be:
1. You MUST need the part. Don't get it just because it's free. This is for someone who may not be able to find one elsewhere, maybe they don't want to dish out 40 bucks, and there's no salvage yards near them.
2. You MUST have something to offer up for the next person. No matter how big, or how small, I'm sure all of you have some extra pieces laying around the garage, or sitting in the glove box that you don't need, but just aren't parting with. I give you what I have, and you pay it forward to the next guy.
3. We're going on an honor system here. Please don't screw this up for the people who will actually treat this for the cool thing that it may turn into.
SO (I'm rambling a lot, I know), PM me if you have something to offer, and need this piece. I'll let you know if you're the first person to respond, and after you get my confirmation, post what you have up for grabs on here. The next person will do the same for you, PM you, so on and so forth.
Sorry if you think this idea is stupid, I'm sure that if that's the general consensus the mods will just lock it down. I tried to put this in the "For Sale" section, but I'm a newer member and I'm not allowed to post there yet.
Here's the piece, painted and cleared (Although it's far from perfect), and the mounting hardware.
