2"-2.5" lift decisions...HELP!

Ok ordered my new tires and rims. Need a 2 to 2.5 lift. Was all set to order the RC 2.5 but am getting worried after reading all the negative comments about the shocks and ride. This is a daily driver with small off road (trails) and maybe silver lake once a year. Staying around $300 or less what would people recommend. 2" BB with new shocks? RC 2.5? HELP please, I need to decide this week and place order.

I wouldn't do the 2" bb lift. I did and regret it. If I could do it again i'd do the 3" zone lift.
Instead of going back and doing it after the bb lift :(

justa5o 03-19-2011 05:28 PM

looked at that but over budget right now

Zetsumei 03-19-2011 05:31 PM

I'm in the same boat man. I've been looking at the RC 2.5 lift. Same concern is that everyone says it rides rough, but I suppose if you don't mind that then it's okay. Also I'd assume the 2.5" lift doesn't run as rough as the 4" lift which most people have. The 4" or higher that is. I've also heard people who were very happy with their RC.

justa5o 03-19-2011 05:34 PM

Thats whats hard Zetsumei....hate to spend the money and not be happy. Wondering what other options people would recommend.

Zetsumei 03-19-2011 05:44 PM

No one really gave me a comparison to how the RC shocks ride vs. stock... or if they were talking about the new Performance 2.2 Shocks...

justa5o 03-19-2011 05:59 PM

Then I heard they were coming out with new shocks.....ughhhh

Zetsumei 03-19-2011 06:02 PM

Yeah. I already hate spending money in general. Lol, doesn't help much.

justa5o 03-19-2011 06:20 PM

Ya...well spending on 5 new tires and rims makes the budget for the lift less

KidRock171 03-19-2011 06:25 PM

RC 2.5 DO IT. lol
hope that helped.
I enjoy mine ride quality=stock it's just got more body roll cuz it's taller so it "feels" rough. I'd also suggest a steering stabilizer it will reduce steering jerk reducing body roll.

Zetsumei 03-19-2011 06:26 PM

They are having a sale on the steering stabilizer... 30 dollars or so.

justa5o 03-19-2011 09:00 PM

Does the stabillizer make a big difference?

KidRock171 03-19-2011 09:27 PM

How many miles do you have on your rig?

justa5o 03-19-2011 09:53 PM

113000

KidRock171 03-19-2011 09:56 PM

Therefore your steering stabilizer (because it's also a shock absorber) is shot due to all the miles. It will make, all, the difference in my opinion.

justa5o 03-19-2011 10:00 PM

Thanks! So you would recommend the RC 2.5 with the steering stabilizer? anything else needed?

Just my 2 cents but I put the RC 2.5 lift on Jan 15th and pulled it all out and put the OME on Feb 22nd. That was the worst riding vehicle I have ever driven. I have a 94 yj with 110k on it. I went from stock to the 2.5 with new tires and wheels. It was so rough and bouncy I could not drive it down certain roads. OME is soooooooo worth the extra money. If this is your daily driver save your money and run with what you have or save until you can afford something good. Hate to see you spend money that you are going to regret.

KidRock171 03-19-2011 11:13 PM

I would suggest it. I like my lift alot. The ride really did not change much for me body roll taken into account.

RC 2.5 with the 2.2 series shocks feels the same as my stock suspension felt. i would also reccomend the stabilizer.

x2-I do understand budgets and wanting it now-but waited for the OME and can not believe it is same vehicle-GF doesn't want to get out of the Jeep now and she has a bad back!

Zetsumei 03-20-2011 12:10 AM

But how much is the OME kit?

The yj rides differnt than a tj stock or lifted

OP
I dont like RC but if that is your choice get the 2.2 shock upgrade and a stabilizer

jp2611 03-20-2011 12:23 AM

Don't want to mislead I have a TJ-think you have a YJ? The kit for my TJ is about $800-I had it installed for a total of $1100.

Zetsumei 03-20-2011 12:26 AM

Well I think I've decided to sit on my money for a bit longer and get something else... idk. Wonder what the OP wants.

Teo74 03-20-2011 02:04 AM

I am very new to this scene but I am in the same situation and think I am going to go with the Ome 2.5" and maybe a 1" body lift. I have heard nothing but good about Ome and hear the ride quality is excellent for a daily.

KidRock171 03-20-2011 02:19 AM

Ome gets great reviews. But they are a lil more pricey. And I personally can't stand the hilighter yellow on the shocks. RC is great! For the price. Not only this. But I have 2.5 inch suspension lift and 1.25 inch body lift. If I could do it again. I prolly would have just bought the 4 inch RC lift. Go big or go home/if it's worth doing it's worth overdoing.
