Tires and wheels
 
Helllo,
I just purchase a '98 Sahara. Its forest green with a tan hardtop. Im trying to get wheels and bigger tires on it but i dont know how big i can go with out lifting it. Does anyone have any suggestions? i was thinking maybe 31X10.50 tires on 15X8 wheels. Good?

sounds like it will fit with minor rubbing on full flex
I have the same set up with a $80 coil spring spacer kit
2' lift for $80
31x10.50x15
15x8 rims with 4" backspacing

I dont fully understand what you did.. may you please explain further?

Coil Spring spacers are often referred to on here as a budget boost, or budget lift. They're "pucks" that go on your coil springs, to give a lift kit at a very affordable price. It gives you a bit more room to run larger tires without rubbing.

Backspacing refers to how far a rim will move your tire from the hub, to put it simply. Moving the tires out a little bit will help to prevent tires rubbing on steering components when you run larger-than-stock tires.


What are your plans for your TJ, Salman? Are you an avid wheeler, new to off-roading, weekend warrior?

It also looks like OU812 is missing a lug nut in that pic :eek:

well, i dont plan on doing anything extreme. i just want to give it a lil lift and have the tires spaced out a lil bit to get that nice look. as for off-roading, again nothing to extreme maybe once a month or so.

He added a 2" coil spacer aka Budget boost and aftermarket wheels with 4" backspace, and 31" tires. If I read it right. :)

yea i was missing a lug,it was a striped locking lug that has gotten replace :)

You can run 31x1050's without much issue. I have them on mine, mounted on 15x8 rims, these rims actually. They rub a tiny bit with the wheels turned fully one way, but not the other way. I forget which way, lol.
Keep in mind that some tire companies measure their tires differently, too. Some "10.50" tires may be slightly wider or narrower than 10.5 inches on the tread. My mud/snow tires are a tad narrower than my A/T's, but not much.
