Sliders...

Ok so my wife and daughter want to get me something for Father's Day... Wife told me the budget for said gift. ($300-400.) (Ain't she great?) anyways, I was thinking of some sliders. I have some questions though.....
1. Does anyone have some pics of the Jeeperman Sliders, and A to Z, on a Jeep?
2. I know that BTF and PCS are both really long waits, is there any other merchant I can order these through that might have them in stock?
3. I have looked at the A to Z, BTF, PCS, Jeeperman, Shrockworks, Gen-Right, Romken... Am I missing anyone?

I am open to any and all suggestions, and I would love to see pics of everyone's rigs...... Thanks!

Hardy

Have you looked at LoD, RockHard4x4 or Olympic4x4?

AZ, look how much clearance you are giving up with those.

Here are the AtoZ Sliders. Definitely a great looking product.

And here are Gen-Rights without the bar.

Mine are more molded off the AtoZ sliders and I was more interested in the protection than needing some sort of step which I don't use anyway.

I have the Jeeperman and for MY purposes I like them, however, I wouldn't necessarily recommend them.

I did not care about the clearance loss so much because I have a total of 4" susp lift, 1.25" BL and 37" tires - even with the loss of clearance my rockers are higher than many on 35's. My wife and daughter are both knee biters and I have a bum knee so I needed something to allow access into my rig when that high. Elsewise I would have gone with the body mount such as Rockitman (#1 choice), Schrockworks (#2), or A to Z (no personal experience so for me #3).

I just don't feel like driling holes in my tub with the TJ being such a virgin and all :D Plus they arn't really that thick. I've seen a few in person and like 'em.

I can respect that. I didn't have any issues with that since mine already had the holes there due to the Sahara Trim Package.

But believe me - if I hang onto this thing long enough(which I'm sure I will) it will see more incarnations than Mr.C's Jeep :D

those are some big words to live up to. :D

I have no problem with drilling holes. I don't need the step (yet). I just want better protection. I am kinda stuck on the Shrockworks but I want to look at all my options first.
Thanks again
Hardy

i think you should go with shrockworks. i have heard absolutley nothing bad about those things. i don't care for the jeepermans as they mount below the rockers.

They arn't much of a step - they don't stick out nearly as far as the stock fenders do, maybe 3".

What about Durango4x4? Thiers are built like Warns and are on sale for $195 :D

erickpl 06-08-2007 12:40 PM

I went with the Toys By Troy (similar design to the A to Z and others). Had some very hard landings on them and they and the Jeep are holding up very well.

Just know that even some of the beefier rocker guards won't always hold up so go for something that is known to be really strong. My 4XDoctor guards are in the upper-end of strong guards but my rockers are getting fairly caved in underneath even them. I think it's a bit too late for me now but if I had the decision to do over again, I'd go for rocker guards that have an internal brace option like AtoZ's do.

Thats really good info thanks! I will look into this a lil more. Bigjeep thats the reason I started looking at Shrockworks, cause I have heard nothing but good good things. I Forgot all about TBT.
AZ where did you find those for $195? I want to look into those.

Thanks Again,
Hardy

I agree about both comments. just don't look at the tube as a step...look at it as a piviot point and something to keep those rocks, logs, car doors (if your's sees alot of the mall :D ). I would run shrockworks or PCS (eventhough the wait sucks). I've been looking at the shrockworks for awhile and really like the look and thickness of them, I think that this is what I'm gonna go with when it comes time to do the mod.

Exactly, that's what the rail is really for, protection against rocks etc. It's also extremely handy as a step to stand on but my rockers would be 10X more hammered than they are if it wasn't for the rail welded onto the side that absorbs 75% of the hits.

Scoob 06-08-2007 05:47 PM

I have the Jeeperman's now because of the need for a step. If not for that I would have went with the Rokmen Mercenary's. Full wheel to wheel coverage, internal support and under body protection.

http://www.rokmen.com/products/rocke...y_sliders.html

I would stay away from anything Jeeperman. Their quality control and customer service has tanked even worse since the new owners took over.

mrbigjeep 06-08-2007 05:55 PM

romken looks nice if they are within price range...haven't checked

1BLKJP 06-08-2007 11:34 PM

I'm at the same point Jerry is with the rockers starting to cave in a bit behind the guards. But oh well they've saved me way more than they are worth keeping the body out of the rocks.

AZ, the crapper bars on my rockers stick out farther, than my fender flares. However, not sure what that matters since the flares are going to take some hits before you even get to the rockers.
