larger tires and stock rubi rails
 
does anyone out there run 35" or larger tires with the stock rubi sliders? if so, how bad is the rub when you flex? I've got the rubi sliders with the PS RICO kit installed and will soon be on 35's or 37's, and was wondering if I needed to invest in some new sliders.

it's a LCOG build......I've got PS fenders and have the capability of running 37's on stock suspension without sacrificing my center of gravity......my front axle has been reinforced with evo mag 44's and gussets so that's no worry either. I know that without airing down I will have very little issues with rub, but I prefer 12-15lbs. while wheeling and was wondering if anyone had any issues with the stock rubi rails. and yes, the pinch seam is trimmed

We just installed 315/70/17's on our Rubi, and he's wheeled it the last 2 days with no rubbing, but he hasn't aired them down yet. We'll probably just trim the pinch seam and the rock rail back a bit to add the needed clearance.

I was hoping I wouldn't get a response like this.....looks like I may be selling my rails. The tube in the RICO kit goes nearly to the ends of the rails.... :(

Well, if it helps we'll probably only take off about 1/4-3/8".........

I'm about 1/2" to the welds on the rear. keep me updated on how much he rubs....

Look at the Synergy Suspension kit. I don't think it goes as far as the Rico kit on the rails.

I've already got the Rico kit welded, powder coated, and bed-linered.....:(

Oh my bad. Don't see too many of those.

In that case yeah you'll have problems with those rails. For 37's or 38's and no suspension modifications you're looking at some good body mods.

I'd reinforce both axles too with some C gussets. You already got the nice shafts so all you need to do after the gussets is watch the tubes. Might need a truss or outers, might not. idk

I have the Teraflex 2.5" coil lift and 35" tires on my Rubicon and had to cut the stock rock rails down an inch or so because they rubbed into the tires. This only happened to me with the rear tires and wore the plastic insert right away.
