I love to hate my yj
Just when I think all is fixed.... We have a 94 yj and put a new clutch in last week driving home from work it started making a slight knocking sound wHAT I THOUght might be a rod bearing ended up being a broken crank.....but we still love our jeep :)

thanks moral support was needed ... that crank was heavy on my back

soon2bmarried 04-07-2011 07:57 PM if this works it is my old busted crank

Undead-89 04-07-2011 10:14 PM

You sure you couldn't superglue it back together? J/k

Good luck with the reinstall and hope it breaks in nicely for you.

soon2bmarried 04-07-2011 11:18 PM

i wish superglue would have fixxed that

Mitchness 04-08-2011 12:24 AM

Superglue?! C'mon guys what the hell are you thinking? :nonono:

It needs JB Weld of course. :p

I thought about that, but I was afraid someone might take me seriously ;)

FirstJeep4Me 04-08-2011 05:05 AM

Geez, don't people use duct tape anymore? What's the world coming to? :)

crtaylor 04-08-2011 05:34 AM

WOW! how in the world did those little squirlls do that? Ive seen some blown up engines in my day. but never saw this ,that had to be a bad crank from the start.

soon2bmarried 04-08-2011 08:44 AM

that happened probly because the PO pun a new flywheel and clutch in and left the flywheel loose but drove the jeep i dropped the tranny to fix the flywheel put all back together go around the block and was rewarded with this lovely carnage..........i too thought of jb weld and or duct tape or a combination there of however my soon to be wife was not pleased with anything less then a new crank :)

your lucky my girlfriend loves toyotas so its a constant battle of repairing her 22re all the time :) i would go look to drop a 4l in it 2.5 is a stupid motor anyways it gets worse gas mileage lack of power and sounds dumb all good reasons to change

soon2bmarried 04-08-2011 06:09 PM

as far as the 2.5 being a stupid little motor i dont really care its being kept in the truck for a reason and if i was gonna do a motor swap i already have a ls1 sitting on an engine stand so have motor otions but wedding is next week and until that is over my budget is tight

ryanmurray 04-08-2011 06:40 PM

Hey I understand man I'd rather have a Chevy V8 also and I just don't like angry squirrels cause I run 35s and so does my girlfriend can you guess who has more wheel spin lol

soon2bmarried 04-18-2011 12:14 PM

muhahahahaha replaced crank new clutch put the yj back together primed motor and fired right up my angry squirrels are now very happy squirrels and i am in a demented type of mood lol :pop::firedevil:
