Tiny Jeep Shovel

Where is the shovel that comes with the Jeep supposed to be located at. Mine was on the backseat when i bought it.

Jp90Talon 03-31-2011 12:15 PM

Wait I have never heard of Jeeps coming with a shovel excpt for maybe a Willys

2dmud 03-31-2011 12:16 PM

Oh cool. It came with a tiny shovel and a fire extinguisher

Jp90Talon 03-31-2011 12:18 PM

Yeah not OEM but good things to have!

2dmud 03-31-2011 12:19 PM

AWESOME! but still where does the shovel go lol

Jerry Bransford 03-31-2011 12:29 PM

Anywhere you want it to go, there is no particular spot that is made to hold a shovel on a TJ. :)

Peepers 03-31-2011 12:29 PM

Where ever you want it to. It wasn't offered as an option for Jeeps, which would be OEM. There is no set place to put it.

2dmud 03-31-2011 12:43 PM

So why is there a shovel then? lol

Schmo 03-31-2011 12:43 PM

I attached a little bracket to my tire carrier and keep a shovel right behind the spare.

2dmud 03-31-2011 12:44 PM

It's like 2 ft long and foldable lol i dont think it would look so good on the tire carrier

erickpl 03-31-2011 01:34 PM

Mine is currently being used to hold up the transmission. Jeep calls it a transmission skid.

I've got one of those too . . . Pretty cool feature that Jeep put on all the TJs . . . they sure don't make it easy to get to when you need it though!!!

funny thats the same place mine is.

That folding shovel sounds like the e-tool that I carry in my Jeep. Just find a place to get to it easy when you need it and strap it down. Mine gets strapped to the hi-lift.

And I thought I was special and had the only one...

erickpl 03-31-2011 03:15 PM

I'm getting more of a flat spade that doesn't shovel nearly as well from Undercoverfab.

I wonder if my current shovel can be strapped to my hilift? :)

KRAMMIT 03-31-2011 03:35 PM

I have a shovel, and mounted it here (borrowed the idea from the JK guys)

Metal to metal contact with the front clip support rod (negative), and the tip of the shovel half an inch from the positive battery terminal? I hope you have comprehensive insurance...

tallzdatank 11-29-2012 05:59 PM

I got one of those extending rods for a pick-up box, put my shovel, ax, saw, lug wrench, and traction mats under the back seat. they all fit, just.

LiftedTj 11-29-2012 06:39 PM

I have a fold-up military surplus shovel that goes under the backseat

Beachcomber 11-29-2012 07:09 PM

I have a small shovel much like the one Kammit has. I keep it as well as a board and a tow strap under the rear seat. They all fit and are out of sight and out of the way.

The shovel's been there for over 6 years without issue. Are you in the insurance business? :thumb:
