Can you move the ads from the left side over to the right? It's easier to ignore them over there.

I think that's exactly the point for putting them on the left :D

I agree, since I can't see out of my right eye

deverhart 01-07-2006 12:47 PM

addressed the issue of the threads stretching off the right side of the screen, unless a large picture is posted. will be making adjustments to picture sizes to further rectify the situation

we are working on a complete redesign, these are just baby steps in getting the backend code right.

and Jack your smilie works again.

Yeah, I know. And even though I also now know that I can buy a Jeep stroller at JC Penney for half the price that Amazon.com sells them for, I'm not going to click on the link anyway. :D

I hate that I have to adjust my browser wider to see the content I want because the content I don't want is in the prime location. Some of us are still working with 15" displays.

deverhart 01-08-2006 07:40 AM

tdad - what resolution do you run at? I will try to address the issues for those that are having problems.

Currently the site is optimized for a 800x600 maximized browser.

For reference the way we came to this decision in the size to optimize to is based on these statistics of our members.

1024x768 58.89%
800x600 15.68%
1280x1024 13.59%
1280x800 4.70%
1152x864 2.18%
1400x1050 1.13%
1680x1050 0.96%
1440x900 0.61%
1280x768 0.52%
1280x960 0.44%

we believed that we had addressed all situations where the forum would require side scrolling to view content. As display content is our #1 goal this is important to us. If you are running at 800 x 600 and have any threads in particular that you can reference that cause side scrolling please do so and we will work to get those addressed. The only outstanding problem that we are aware of (that is being worked on) is images that are too large are causing a stretching effect. Let me know and we will get things fixed for you.

Our members are our number 1 concern.

Thanks for replying. I'm running at 1024x768 on a 15" display (until I can save up for a 19"). My problem is I often have multiple windows open and jump back and forth between them, so I don't like to maximize any of them. So, right now for example, for me to see the green border on the right hand side, my window is almost full-width on my screen. If the ads were on the right, I could shrink the window size (which would require scrolling to see the ads) and still see the content.

Don't get me wrong, the ads aren't a deal-breaker. I think the site is great and I'll continue to use it. If those ads are generating revenue to keep the site running then fine. I was just throwing out my $.02 for my preference.

I didn't even notice until you said that. They may as well not be there...
