Finally put my Safari Straps on

It's been cold >30 here for awhile now and I've been waiting to take my top off to install my Safari Straps. I probably could have installed the straps without removal of the top, but we had some nice weather today so what the hell.

When I bought these I had a hard time deciding if I wanted the extended rear window straps or the standard length. I wanted to mount my Hi-lift on the rear bars by the tailgate and thought the extended would interfere. Hopefully it doesn't. I didn't buy the full kit with straps over the top because sometimes I like to stand up in my jeep :whistling: don't judge.

Installation took about 30 min including the time it took for me to find the soft top tailgate bar in my basement. I'm really impressed with the quality of the straps, the steel buckles, and steel rings. As an added bonus I didn't get the pink logo on straps, but rather a newer white logo.

Do you use a softtop too and would you have to take these off entirely to switch back to a softtop?

They fit under the soft top.

I wanted to get the full set because they look bad ass and then figured I don't want to lose the sunshine.

I haven't had my soft top on since fall, but all you should have to do is remove the clips from the tailgate bar if you have the soft top up. I've seen pics where someone reattached the strap clips to the bar over the soft top when it was folded back.

I looked at those and the Smittybilt CRES..ended up going with Smittybilt even though I swore I would never buy another Smittybilt product. Although it does actually fit properly!!! My reasoning is that the Smittybilt gives a bit more rooms since the net comes over the roll bar and not between the bars. Every inch counts with a 120 pound Rottie back there.

Safari Straps can actually keep that Rottie inside though. The other major advantage is that they can stay on with the top up. It keeps wet noses off your plastic windows!:thumb:

That's only a stock 32 on the back. I have a full sized spare that I throw in the cargo area when I head up north. I prefer the look of a spare on the tailgate even if it's not the right size. Hopefully it's still easy to get my 35 in there with the nets! :whistling:

Thanks for the info I'm going to check that out definitely! Real nice rig, bro! How much lift did you need for 35's and how is the gearing with them on there compared to stock?

Went with a 3" Zone kit. I've only had the front fender rub once on a trail and I was disconnected.

I had the stock gears swapped out a few weeks after I got the new shoes. Didn't really have much power to begin with, and it felt like I was pulling a loaded trailer. I never did wheel it with the stock gears and 35's, so I have no experience there.
