Lifting my Jeep Islander 2010
I am a new to the Jeep world and would like to lift my Jeep. I would like to lift it as high as I can without having to do any alterations. I was told 4.5 inch is about as high as I can go. What is a good lift kit for the money and also where in Washington is a good place to go. I heard about a place in Tacoma, but now it has closed down.

Well with a big lift usually people want to change out tires.. stock tires on a big lift look funny lol. Also a few things to consider when lifting, brake line length, you might have to get new brake lines. Rear driveshaft angle.. this is a big one to consider because its the most costly.. most people who lift big usually end up doing a transfer case drop (very cheap and easy) along with a slip yoke eliminator (SYE), constant velocity (CV) driveshaft (not so cheap and easy)

Without doing these things, if your driveshaft angle is too extreme coming off the transfer case you can cause damage, or experience bad vibrations when driving. I'd check out the JK forums and see what other JK owners have done with their jeeps in regards to lifts and other mods that were required to lift.

Also, welcome to WF! Enjoy!

dunno where in WA you are, but John and the crew at Auburn Offroad and Car Repair are the best evarrrrrr.
Welcome to the shop...
seriously, i can't say enough good things about these guys, and boy does John know his Jeeps!!

another great place for getting a lift installed is Olympic 4x4 in Snohomish, Wa.

i believe they do only OME lifts, and it takes them less than a day to install (at least, that's what they told me when i inquired about my YJ).

Olympic is also a great place to go for used parts.

This is so true, yes I do trail guide for JJUSA and have seen the mistakes from new Jeep owners.
