Long Range Lights vs. Driving Lights...What is better?
I am considering buying either Long Range lights or Driving lights to mount on windshield hinge. I have done some research and learned that driving lights have a rectangular lighting pattern while long range lights have a "streamline" pattern to penetrate further into the darkness. My concern is whether the driving lights will cast too much of a glare off of the hood and cause blinding. If this the case would it be more practical to mount the long range on windshield and driving lights on bumper?
I am sure this has been threaded numerous times but I cannot find an answer that satisfies my question.

The generic driving lights do fan out a lot more light but at a lot less range. They are good at lighting up the sides of the trail but crap for seeing what's more than 30' in front of you. As to whether or not it would cause a glare issue on the hood I can't say. I kind of doubt it because the light is so unfocused.

I have kc daylighters on my wind shield mount. They don't have much glare on the hood. But they are long range lights.

Im not sure putting driving lights on your windshield would be the way to go. I run driving beam on my bumper and spot beam on my window and glare is minimal. The combo I use works well for me on and off road. Both are KC slim lights.

Go with the long range lights on the windshield. With driving lights the hood would cause you to lose too much forward lighting.

Thanks, the video was a huge help in differentiating between the driving lights and long range lights. Also the KC knockoff lights are beasts!! I would have never thought that those would put off so much light!
